Of course there's the main things like doing the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, Lombard Street, Chinatown, etc., but I wanted to make a restaurant recommendation. My faaaaavorite restaurant in SF is Colibri.... it's a Mexican tapas-style restaurant and it's *amazing*! They have the BEST sangria there and the food is to die for!

I like the shopping in Union Square. What about Golden Gate Park and the Palace of Fine Arts? It's really picturesque there.

It isn't a top notch attraction, but my favorite thing is walking up to Coit Tower on a clear, sunny day. The city looks so beautiful from up there. If you are lucky in timing, you get to see the wild parakeets, which I think are really cool.

My favorite restaurants are the Nob Hill Cafe for yummy, comfort food pasta and the House of Nanking for Chinese.

If you will have a car, take the Scenic Drive--especially on a cool windy day.

SF has so many good restaurants that I can't even name my favorite. We like to try a different one every time. Any particular kind of food you like or want to try?

My favorite activity is to hang around Union Square and shop till I drop.

If you and your hubby are "foodies", make sure you go check out the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. Its full of some great gourmet restaurants.
Check out the SLANTED DOOR for dinner. Great, fun trendy place!
Also, for late night drinks and chocolate covered strawberries, you gotta hit up the BUBBLE LOUNGE. I think you would love it there!

I spent a day there in Feb and enjoyed walking around Fisherman's Warf. We had some yummy seafood from the stands by pier 45 and then happened apon the weirdest museum! It's full of antique mechanical games and old arcade games. We had so much fun looking at all of them and playing pinball. The music and mechanical laughter was kind of creepy (just like on their site).

My boyfriend is big on French food and had friends in the area reccomend Fleur de Lys . It's great if you want a very nice very french multi-course meal and it didn't feel at all stuck-up...which sometimes those places seem. One of the best cheese courses I've had in a while...in fact I would have been perfectly happy with just the cheeses and wine!

there is a great bar at the top of the mark hopkins hotel on nob hill, Top of the Mark for a great view of the city.

i also enjoyed the SFMOMA. not sure if you're an art museum person, but you could check out their website to see if there are any exhibits that you might be interested in.

i love sf. have a great time!

OH! and wear shoes with a "grippy" bottom. last time i was there i was wearing slippy bottom shoes and i had a really hard time walking around even fell on my arse a few times. not cool.

San Francisco! You will have a great time. Here are my favorite things to do:

- Rent a bike (there are lots of rental places in fisherman's wharf), and take the bike path along presidio park, across the golden gate bridge and into Sausalito, then take the ferry back. The path is relatively flat, except the part going up to the bridge, then it's all downhill into Sausalito. There are lots of places to take amazing pictures, going across the bridge on a bike is FUN! And I love taking the ferry back.

- We went to the ferry market and had dinner at the Slanted Door. It's amazing, but you should make reservations at least a week in advance.

- Ride the cable car biggrin

We once took it from Union Square to Lombard St. and walked down the crooked part. The houses on Lombard or gorgeous too.

- SFMOMA. It has a great gift shop, and a beautiful park across the street. If the weather is nice, it's a great place to hang out and people watch.

- Dinner at an italian restaurant in North Beach. We always wander until we see one that looks good, and we have yet to be disappointed.

- If you feel like shopping somewhere other than Union Square, Cow Hollow is a cute neighborhood with boutiques. There are also plenty of hip restaurants there, for a lunch break.

Definitely nice boutiques that carry Shopbop-type brands. Everything is along Union Street. There are a few national chains like Bebe, Benefit Cosmetics and Z Gallerie.
