My professor lost my final exam. And i have two options now:
a. Keep my current grade without calculating the final exam b. Retake the exam at the begininning of the quarter after spring break
I am not fond of either option. First of all I studied my butt off for this exam spent tons of hours studying so that I can get a better final grade for the class, so taking my current grade would mean I did all that work for nothing. And then retaking the exam means Id have to do all that studying over again.
Im really frustrated and feel its unfair that I am put in this position to make this kind of decision when it wasn't my fault that the professor lost the exam.
Is there anything I can do, or do I have any other options???

I know it's unfair to you, but what other options does he have? I mean, he has no idea where your exam is or what kind of grade you got on it, so there isn't a whole lot else he can do. I'm sorry though, this really sucks.

Look on the bright side, at least the prof is admitting it is his fault and he/she is not accusing you of skipping it. If you REALLY need to improve your grade I would retake it because studying again, etc will be worth it. On the other hand, if you are just trying to go from a B to an A I would just skip it.

i agree w/farrah, i wouldn't retake it if I had a B. But probably would if I was on the brink of a B, or less. Not if I had to get 100% or anything to change my grade.
I have a C+ and would need a 85.6% or higher on the final to move me up to a B-
I think im leaning towards retaking the exam.
Thanks for the advice

I suggest a retake, with the caveat that he gives you the higher of the two possible grades you could get. But why would you have to wait until spring? Can't he or a TA proctor the test in a reasonable amount of time, since this is his problem, not yours?
