I just bought this after seeing it recommended in Real Simple last month. It's awesome! It's the Four Paws Shed n Blade.
It's the Four Paws Shed 'n Blade. I tried it on both my dogs (one husky-x, one lab-x) and it pulled SO much hair off of them. The hair doesn't stick to it, either, which is a big problem for me. It's also really gentle, so it doesn't hurt them like the rakes do. It was about $9. I hope this helps someone who is going out of their mind with dog hair like I am!

good to know! My dog sheds buckets of fur in the spring and fall, and I've seen these before but never bought one because I was skeptical and never knew someone who used it.

Hi KE! I got it at our local mom 'n pop pet store, so I assume Petsmart would have it. It's the only actual blade I've ever bought (I have every type of brush & comb possible though), so I have no idea if it is different. My guess is probably not? My groomer recommended a different brand that looks almost the same.

Thanks HB! I will try it-Do Sully and Halley object to brushes in general? Patches just hates being brushed-it makes me wonder if she was abused with a brush before we got her.

aww, thanks for asking! She's doing great. I will try and take a recent picture of her soon and post it for you. She's just so pretty, we get so many compliments on her when we take her out. We know a couple of GS breeders and they were disappointed when we fixed her. o well!

Halley doesn't really care. Sully doesn't like his butt brushed, no matter what kind of brush I use (that's where he needs it most, though!). He does seem to like the blade better on his back than the rake, though!
Tati - so glad your pups are doing well (I am assuming the little one is, too). I saw a GSD puppy at the dog park the other week and thought of yours!

Haha! I wish! But I have been brushing Sully every other day, and I had about 1/2 the normal amount of weekly hair when I vacuumed yesterday. That's reward enough for me!

Halleybird - Thanks for the recommendation. We bought one today. I never knew how much Mitch shedded until we got the hardwood floors. It totally grosses me out because I guess I just couldn't see it as well on the carpet.
KE - Our dog is scared of the brush too, but he was fine with shedding blade. At first he was apprehensive, but once I got it on him he loved it. Seriously, I though he was going to have an orgasm or something.
I need to get one of those! My bf and I have a border collie and I have been trying to find something to keep her from shedding. It drives me crazy when she stays with me because hair is everywhere and we brush her a bazillion time a day.
