jeans stretch question
Permalink Closed

so i desperately needed to get new jeans, finally found a pair that i liked, but now don't know what size i should get. these are the jeans

i'm really concerned about them stretching out, b/c i have the unfortunate experience of buying jeans in my "size" only to have them stretch out and become too big by the end of the day.

i'm usually a size 8. i tried these on in a 30 and they were too big. the 29 fits well, but i'm concerned about them stretching out too much. i tried on a 28 and they're a bit more snug, not uncomfortable or anything, but i've never, ever, bought pants in that size.

how much do you guys think these will stretch? should i keep the 29's or find them in a 28? they're true religion and 1% elastic. also does anyone know if tr changed their sizing? i bought these to replace another pair i owned, and they were a size 30 and fit perfectly. while i've been working out, i definitely know that i didn't drop 2 pant sizes. however the sa assured me that the sizing hasn't changed.

please help me! i don't want to drop a ton of money on jeans that are going to end up being too big.

Go with size 28 if they were comfortable (e.g. try sitting with them on etc). They will stretch a bit. I was recently shopping for jeans, got 7s & the shop girls all recommended to size down. I'm normally a 8 and like you, used to buy size 30 but they were way too big, 29 fit well and the 28s were snug but comfy. Have had jeans for a couple weeks now and they've def stretched out.

Def go with the 28.  All jeans stretch a little.

Definitely go with the 28. I have been able to get into size 26 jeans in the past that are really stretchy. I also bought my TR Joeys in a 28 and wished constantly that I'd bought the 27 or 26 instead because the waistband kept sliding.

I personally think that super tight jeans don't look good, especially when chicks cram themselves into stretchy jeans. As long as they aren't super-tight looking, I'd go with the 28.

i have a few pair of true religions, and i think they did change their sizing.  a pair of size 29 i bought 2 years ago fit perfectly, but i just bought a pair of johnnys that are a 27 and they fit perfectly.

i have the ones you are looking at in size 26, and a pair in a lighter wash in 27.  the 26 were initally really really tight and they didn't stretch as much as i hoped they would.  the 27s are perfect -- snug at first and stretched out to fit perfectly.

i would go with the 28 as long as you don't have to shoe-horn yourself into them.

I've actually had the opposit experience lately. I have a few pairs of Citizens of Humanity in a size 26, and when I went to get a new pair at bloomies yesterday I was super bummed to find that I could barely button the 26's. The saleslady told me that "every time we get a shipment, the citizens' seem a little bit smaller." I felt better after that, but, has anyone else had that experience with citizens? Or was the saleslady just trying to make me feel better?

OMG, I had the same experience at bloomies on saturday! I tried the new COH fayes with the extra wide waistband. I'm usually 25/26, but in these the 26 would barely button! I've been on a cookie & tea binge all winter so I thought it was just me, but then I tried some 7s and I was my regular size there.  Glad to hear I wasn't the only one!

PS - I forgot to reply to the original post!
I would go with the smallest size.  The last TR pair I bought stretched out so much I have to wear a belt otherwise they'd fall off.
