Bra review for Lilykind
Permalink Closed

I got this bra today. I'm not keeping it because of fit issues.

When I got this, I actually went to the computer to check the style number and make sure I had it the correct item, because I guess I had it envisioned differently in my mind. This is the Valentina Full Busted Bra by Felina, style number 7559.

The embroidery is not as intricate as I had anticipated, and the embroidery actually has more of a presence on the bra than the picture indicates. All the little vines and flowers are bigger, brighter, and more numerous than the picture looks like. It's not ugly or anything, just not what I expected, which was disappointing because it was the embroidery that drew me to this bra to begin with.

The cups are made of mesh. In the picture it looks pretty opaque, so while the description on herroom.com said that the cups were mesh, I didn't realize how sheer they would be. Much more so than the picture.

Since it didn't fit, I only had it on for a few minutes, but it did seem very supportive, actually, which surprised me with the mesh cups. The reviews on herroom.com all seem to agree that it's supportive, which is one reason I bought this to begin with.

I'm returning it because it doesn't really fit me. The cups are wrinkly, so normally I would think that meant I had to go down a cup size, but the center gore (between the cups) was already pretty far from laying flat on my breastbone, so I think going down a cup size would only make that worse. Even though most bra fitters and websites say that the center gore should lay flat against the breastbone, even my bra fitters agreed with me that that's probably never going to happen for me (they say it's because of my size, but even most bra fitting websites say everyone should be able to achieve this? So I don't know. What I'm saying is, maybe my boobs are crazy and not good indications of fit issues!). Still, it was far enough from laying flat against my body that I don't feel comfortable going down a cup size with that issue already.

Still, for a $39 bra, I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort (aside from the wrinkly cups) and level of support. I did only have it on for about 10 minutes, though.

I guess let me know if you have any other questions!

I bought one felina bra - I think it was the Harlow and rarely if ever wore it.  It was okay but not great.  If you want a pretty embroidered bra that isn't too sheer, check the Fantasie line.  They have a three part balcony bra that is embroidered.  I have one in lavender and it is very supportive and pretty.  The name is lily or iris.  There are a few others as well.  Its one of their recurring styles.  If you want to splurge, check out the Rigby & Peller Opulence balcony style.  Gorgeous.

Here is the fantasie website.  http://www.fantasie.com/search_range.asp

Tara I wear the same size you do, and I have a drawer full of bras that stay flush to the chest.  I occasionally find one that actually presses too hard into my chest wall.  Some of them are just deeper than others and you need to experiment.

I'm glad you posted about the Harlow bra. I've been stalking that for a while and if I found it in red I was going to snap it up! Now I will definitely think twice, between my recent encounter and what you just said. I will definitely check out Fantasie...I think I may have a bra from them but I'm not positive (I'm out of town right now and didn't bring my whole collection with me, sadly)

I'm so confused about the gore issue. All of my bras fit nicely except for that issue, and all the bra fit websites I've checked out say to go up a cup size if that's an issue... but I've tried the next cup size up, and it is definitely too big. I mentioned it to my bra fitter at the lingerie store, and she said basically that some people my size can't get it to lay flat and I shouldn't worry about it. At first I thought that was her just trying to make a sale, but nothing I have will lay flat, and trying on different sizes and brands didn't make a difference either I'm so confused
