I got the issue in the mail on Saturday and I still haven't made time to look through it yet. I think that's pretty indicative of how I feel about the magazine these days.

It's funny that you mention it, because I know one of the girls! The first blonde one, Cassidy Lange (page 164). I went to elementary and middle school with her. It was really weird to turn the page and see someone I knew.

I re-read the article on incorporating sportswear into your wadrobe, and I have to say...all those ideas were HIDEOUS. Like the sports jacket over the sequin dress? not good.

I agree! I found the windpant idea especially awful.

I'd like them feature real people w/ a variety of careers and body types. I work with (and pay) these types of people all the time, and their jobs are not as glam as Lucky made them out to be. I almost chuckled at the attempts to make the jobs sound better than they are, because some of the careers were decidedly mid and even lower-level.
The layering thing was difficult to read...I'd start at 1 and think "ok, cute outfit", at 2 I'd think "yeah that works/makes sense, by 3 I'd go "ok that's plenty" and I couldn't believe they went on with 4...ai yi yi! I did like the second one, but I'd be sweltering in a jacket, vest, tank, and tee. Plus, I can't help but wonder how naked/less covered the legs are in comparison with the top half.
Also, I don't like how the girl featured in the full skirt page said to wear it all with black and white. Color is life people!
I did like some of the pieces, though.
Lucky frustrates me sometimes, but I do find it sufficiently entertaining. Also, I hate how there really aren't any other magazines that can capture the essence of Lucky ca. 2001 when they could show a suit from Express and make it look totally posh.

Ditto. I showed my husband and his response was "Why is she wearing garbage bags around her legs???"

hey, yeah, they should hire up some of us ST'ers, we could do the job so much better! i also liked lucky a lot more when they first started out. now it seems like basically the same type of wierdly unwearable stuff. i agree with you that some of the outfits in the layering peice were good, i liked the vest outfit too, with all the black. the bag guide was pretty good, i found a few that i liked, but i wish it had more. i, too, was sickened with the whole "croc-flats" idea. i'm SO tired of crocs, everyone and their gramma has them and they're not even cute.

I really wish I could see this article...stupid being in Spain... especially the part on how they made my cute croc ballet flats seem awful...I know they aren't the cutest flats around, but I can climb some serious hills and them and walk on the worst cobblestone.

I've been going back and forth trying to decide if I need Lucky or Vogue. Vogue has eye candy and things I couldn't possibly afford/wear. Lucky has fashion ideas adapted for real wear, but some of the ideas are so silly! I almost gagged at the windpants paired with high heels. Actually, that whole workout wear article was just awful. The layering looks might work here in chilly Minne, but it just seems too fussy. I did like the handbag roundup, the straw and patents were adorable. I still need a fashion mag to help keep my looks current, so I'll probably still subscribe to both!
