I was wondering if it would be allright to do atkins for a couple weeks cause i know thats when you lose a lot of weight and then add in foods that are still healthy to eat and just watch my calorie intake from there. or do you think I'd gain all my weight back introducing some foods?
anyone here do atkins?

Ive done atkins for 4 years. It is a lifestyle no a temporary weight loss technique. If you go back to your normal eatting habits you will gain all your weight back.

I highly suggest you read the book before starting the program. Atkins has nothing to do with calories, in fact I eat a ton of calories. Atkins is a whole foods (veggies, meat, fish, cheese, butter cream, no processed , no suger) lifestyle. Everything on atkins is low in carbs and suger, but very high in fat and calories.

I have lost about 100lbs over the 4 years and kept it off. It has been a total lifesaver for me. The today show this morning even reported after a one year study of weight loss , including atkins, low fat & ww, that the atkins people maintained lower weight and had lower blood pressure.

If you have any specific questions please pm me ...

You will lose weight if you do Atkins, however, you WILL gain it all back if you do not make it a lifestyle, and personally I don't know how that is possible. I did it for 2 mo and lost 20 lbs. I was shaky all the time, had horrible headaches, and felt almost hungover everyday. BUT I didn't do it the "correct" way :) I ate the junk that had low carbs, and I ate all the NO SUGAR sweet stuff, which made me feel horrible because it is for diabetics. It is just ahard program to follow lifelong, and I commend people who can stick to it. I agree that if you have an upcoming event, and you want to lose some weight, it is a good program, but if you are looking to lose weight and keep it off, you may want to try a more realistic approach, ie weight watchers, south beach, etc. Good Luck!!
