what I use every day:

foundation from The Body Shop, and if I need Neutrogena concealer

usually don't need blush (Cold and wind make my cheecks rosy enough), but id I do, I use Rimmel blush in apricoat

eye liner from lancome (brown) or l'oreal (black), or eye pencil from lancome or rimmel
shadow from smashbox, l'oreal and maybelline

mascara usually from l'oreal, but the last I have bought is great lash from maybelline (gotta save money)

I have several l'oreal and one lancome lipsticks, but mostly I use rimmel lipgloss in snog

looks like a lot of stuff, but I don't use it all at once. I like to choose in the morning, I guess...

I really don't carry a make-up bag, I put on my warpaint at home, BUT if I did carry one (I just carry my lipstick or gloss that I'm wearing that day in it) I'd have:

*Foundation
*Powder w/sponge applicator
*maybe a few lipsticks/glosses (in neutral colors)
*same as above, but in eyeshadow
*concealer

wow,  the answer to this question has changed quite a bit for me.  i recently have gone through a life altering experience and decided to throw away all of my makeup.  i went 2 months without any makeup at all, and have recently started started purchasing makeup again.  but nothing like i did before.  i would buy makeup, especially at drugstores since it is so innexpensive, just for the sake of buying makeup.  so my escentials have changed a lot and i am now down to one makeup bag of makeup and it consists of:

bare minerals foundation in fair
bare minerals mineral veil
bare minerals blush in golden gate
bare minerals glimmer in devotion
bare minerals bisque
loreal true match foundation in neutral 1
loreal true match concealer in neutral 1
rimmel eyeshadow brown eyeshadow trio
mary kay glow year round bronzer
maybeline eyestylist eyeliner in bronze/brown
aveno intense relief medicated lip balm
elf lipgloss in chai
good skin megabalm tinted lipgloss in mocha pink
covergirl lash exact mascara in black
wet and wild mini eyelash curler

Philosophy the supernatural mineral makeup
Laura mercier eyeshadow base
Trish McEvoy palette with many different eyeshadow shades--use a few as eye liners
laura mercier concealer
Bare Escentuals blush in beauty
mac blush in peachy keen
chanel blush and bobbi brown blush---can't remember the names of the colors
Loreal mascara

I would say those are the basics but I have TONS of glosses, lipsticks, eyeshadows, lipliners....you name it.  I have issues when it comes to buying makeup!!
