Evening Bag/Clutch help...

I need a new evening bag to wear to a few upcoming black tie events... Do you guys like either of these Lauren Merkin clutches or have any other suggestions? Would like to keep it under $200 and want it to be as versatile as possible...

I love Lauren Merkin clutches (I'm going to get one, too). That suede one in gold looks so beautiful!

I'd go with #2. The first one is super fancy and probably wouldn't work well in less-than-formal situations. The second one is dressy, but you could also use it in a variety of other evening events.

I like #1 best too, but I agree with Kitty that the second one seems more versatile.

have you looked on ebay for vintage gold clutches?  you could probably find something very similar for $20 or less.

The first one is absolutely gorg, but I think the 2nd one would be more versatile, can be used again....

#2, not a real big fan of the sequins on #1.

I think you need the shape of #1 in the color of #2.

Eve Shimmer Lambsuede-Gold
It's on the Lauren Merkin site for $180.

i like the shape of the lauren merkin much better. i have the a similar clutch, except it's in black perforated leather w/a thin white bow at top -- i got it for $50 at a saks outlet a couple of years ago. the leather is so buttery soft, and it's actually quite roomy. imo it's much more versatile b/c you can dress it up or keep it casual when you're just going out for drinks. i like the one lilykind posted, and think the leather will be much more versatile than the fabric. hth!
