Wellllll, that depends! What kind of names are they usually attracted to? 'Unique' can be alot of different things ..... like old fashioned names you don't really hear anymore, 'trendy' names, unique spellings of more traditional names, compound or made up names ....
It's hard to make suggestions without knowing if they're looking for Griffin or Boscow or Jaeydyynne, y' know?

me too. But anyone looking for a unique name should check the register of US names first. My classes are full of people who thought they were giving their kids "unique" names, but in reality, there's 3-4 of them per class.

Absolutely agreed! The SSA site has a tool so you can search names given in your state, and the Baby Name Voyager shows you the overall popularity of names over the last couple hundred years. Pretty cool beans!

This reminds me...I was having a similar conversation someone about this recently. We were talking about girl names, though, but the person I was talking to said her mom used to work in a maternity clinic, and she saw the funniest names. One woman wanted to name her daughter "Vaginna," and another named her twins Lymjelo and Lemonjelo.

Okay, seriously, I clicked on this thread again to add this. A few years ago my friend told me about some twins her aunt knows named Oranjelo and Lemonjelo. I wonder if these are the same kids! That's so weird!!!!

A cousin named her son "Asa." Which I liked ok, maybe just because he's really cute. I also know a "Silas" who is darling. But personally, I tend toward names like, "Lucas," which is my favorite. But, um, I got it from the soap opera we used to watch when I was in college... So I'm prolly not the best person to ask...

I've heard of those names too. Maybe it's an urban legend??
