opinions on these dresses
Permalink Closed

I am still on the hunt for a prom dress which will be May 5th this year. The theme is the "roaring 20's." So I am thinking it can be either short or long.
What do you ladies think about these?
Ruby Rox Princess Lace DressRuby Rox Princess Lace DressVelvet Torch Shantung Tube DressAs U Wish Ballerina Dress
I LOVE this one but its too expensive
ABS by Allen Schwartz Bead Chiffon Gown
Adrianna Papell Bead Border Party Dress

Any other opinions? The price range would be no more then $200 and any color is fine.
TIA!

I really like the first one. Are you looking for a special cut or color?

I actually like all of them, but are you trying to go with the theme? None of those are particularly 1920's-ish. j/c

I agree - I like them all.  I am slightly partial to the last one because the embroidery looked really interesting

I think the dresses you found are more reminiscent of the 1940's-50s. Fashion in the 1920's is short hair,
flapper dresses and drop waists. In my opinion, they are nothing I would want to wear to my prom. My
suggestion is to buy a dress that you love and play up the 1920's look in your hair and makeup
(think fingerwaves and ruby red lips).

here's some ideas also:

frontback $130

$78

$188 $188

ditto. If you want to go with the theme maybe look to Louise Brooks for inspiration, especially since there are tons of great photos of her on the web.

I can't recall seeing a lot of 20s style dresses lately but if you want to do something 20s-inspired this dress could work (Bluefly has this Alexia Admor dress in a bunch of colors for less than $100) with a strand of pearls and some vintage looking pumps.

But again, I really like all the dresses you picked out.

Those dresses are really pretty! But just in case you want to go with the 20's theme, maybe some of these would work:

I dont really want to go with theme simply because I think all the decorations will be enough. I like the idea of maybe doing my hair and makeup like the 20's though. During Spring Break I am going to try to go and look at some dresses so hopefully I'll have a better idea at what I want.

I really do like this one more and more everytime I see it. Can anyone find one similar to it thats $200 or less? The color doesn't matter.

ranchera20, it is a beautiful dress. i remember seeing the same dress in white when I was doing my "imaginary wedding dress" hunting, it is very similar to this one:

This dress is slightly similar, it was from www.windsorstore.com, they have tons of dresses.

also check out bluefly.com they have tons of ABS that are around $200, though not the same dress but similar colors/shapes.

Sorry to hijack but isn't this the same dress Eva wore in blue to the Emmys or Golden Globes, or something???
