atlantic city?
Permalink Closed

Today I was invited to a bachelorette party weekend in Atlantic City, NJ.  I've never been there before, but the only things I've heard are about how sleazy it is.  I'm not sure why my friend, the MOH, decided to have the weekend there but that's not my call...  Have any of you been to Atlantic City, and is it as bad as I'm afraid it will be?  And if it's actually really fun then please enlighten me.

I've only been there once and it was after midnight on a Sunday in March or April so I don't think I got an accurate view of AC. I definitely got a slightly seedy feel but I think that could just be because of the time of the week/year I was there and the casino we went to - can't remember which one but it was pretty deserted and depressing. I had a lot of fun since it was a totally spontaneous trip with my friends and we were into the sleazy nature. I know there are ritzier places there like the Borgata though.

I frequent AC. One of my good friends lives near there. There is definitely a seedy side, but they've done a lot over the past few years to clean it up, so the boardwalk/casino area is pretty decent now.

Here are a few of my favorite places:

  • The Quarter at The Tropicana- Lots of restaurants, lounges, clubs, etc. There's a martini bar (Red Square), a loung with a dance floor (32 Degrees), Cuba Libre (best mojitos ever!), Firewater (chill, fun bar/lounge) and lots of other places
  • The Pier at Caesar's Palace- excellent Vegas-style shopping (modeled after The Forum Shops) and also good restaurants. Philly restaurant king, Steven Starr opened a few of his restaurants here
  • The Walk (I think that's what it's called)-- right off the boardwalk/casino area, outlet shopping
  • The Borgata- swanky and cool; just a fun casino with cool clubs/lounges
There's also The Beach Bar (near Caesar's palace) that's pretty fun if it's warm outside. It's actually on the beach and has a tropical vibe.

It's from the publishers of Philly Style Magazine.

PM me if you have any more questions.
