Snow, Wind Are On The Way

(WCCO) Just when your back stopped aching from all the shoveling and snowblowing from last weekend's snowstorm, another punch is taking aim at Minnesota and western Wisconsin. This time, the storm could drop even more snow than before.

The snow is already falling in the Dakotas and in extreme southwestern Minnesota and will move into the metro area around rush hour on Wednesday afternoon.

WCCO-TV meteorologist Chris Shaffer said the snow will continue to fall overnight, with totals from this first wave expected to be in the 3 to 6 inch range. The snow is expected to lighten up in the early morning hours on Thursday before a second wave moves in.

The heavy snow is expected sometime after Thursday morning's rush hour and will last into the overnight hours on Thursday. An additional 9 to 12 inches is expected to fall.

Total storm accumulations could be anywhere from 8 to 18 inches. The heaviest snowfall totals are expected to be just northeast of the Twin Cities, near the Rice Lake, Wis. area, where some isolated areas could see 2 feet of new snow.

The winds will be very strong Wednesday night through Friday. Winds will be sustained at 20 mph, and gusts could be over 30 mph. That will cause the new snow to blow around, creating white-out conditions in some areas.

The National Weather Service has issued blizzard warnings for the North Shore because of the snow and high winds. Winter storm warnings have been issued for nearly all of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area.

Freezing rain and sleet is also possible south of the Twin Cities, along the Interstate 90 corridor.

Ditto! I was so hoping that they would be wrong, but alas, it's already started snowing again. I hate MN winter weather! It was nice and warm today. Why couldn't it stay like that?? I already had to dig my car out of a foot of snow once, I am not looking forward to doing that again.

No kidding, here it is, March and it might just snow again! The temps around here said it was about 48 degrees (during the day), but with the wind it feels like 20 degrees. I had Spring for about two days the other week and then it went away. I also heard on the news tonight that there was a 60 car pile up in one of the mountain passes here in WA. Crazy!

let me talk about buffalo...
we had the snow storm in october, then nothing until mid jan. At that point, the everage high was like... mh... 25? with 30 mph winds
then, couple of weeks ago: the heat wave: we got to 32!!!!
I started sweating during my morning walks, it was so much warmer!
so I can't really complain right now, except than for the weather advisory starting tonight til tomorrow, but I am pretty sure, when it gets to 40-45, I'll start wearing short sleeves out

We-el...it was 70 here yesterday, and will be in the mid- to low-sixties for a couple days, then we'll dip just under 60 degrees by the end of the week. So it's almost like it's here already. ~ducking~

It needs to get here soon! I am going to be broke from all of these vactations Im planning just to get away from it! At least I have found some good deals to florida and the bahamas! But then when it does get here I am going to be broke again because I will want to buy cute new clothes and shoes. I can never win but can have fun trying! LOL
