Okay, I just can't choose!  Help!

We're going in May, just my husband and I.  We are not beach people-we like to be busy.   We have 6 days and 5 nights to work with (leave Saturday, come home Friday).  With that said we have narrowed it down to three choices:

Germany/Europe-Fly into Frankfurt and go from there (not sure where we'll go from there but it sounds like the possibilities are endless).  Pros:  We've never been there and the flight is a good price,  and the pictures you girls (thank you Alliegurl and Bastet) have inspired me to put this on list.  Cons:  I need a new passport and I'll have to fool with getting one (I know it's probably not that big a deal), we don't even have a whole week to work with, and we don't speak anything but English!

Cruise-To the Carribean on Royal Carribean.  Pros:  We've never been on a cruise, the price is right and the price is pretty close to being all-inclusive so we know what we're spending, we are pretty social people so it would be fun to hang out with others.  Cons:  I'm really picky about hotels and accomodations and I'm afraid I'll be let down, not sure if I would feel confined.

Southern California/Palm Springs/San Diego-  Fly into LA, rent a car and spend a couple of nights in Palm Springs (shop, hit the casino), one night in Dana Point, daytrip to Catalina Island (thanks for the recommendation Halleybird!) a couple of nights in LA and San Diego.  Pros:  Good shopping, very nice hotels, nice weather, no set itinerary (come and go as we please), we'll have money left over to shop with.  Cons:  It's not so exotic or extraordinary, lots of traffic to deal with going from one place to another, constant packing and unpacking.

Okay so with all that said-what would you do????

Definitely Germany. It's so good to get out of the US and explore other countries and cultures.

(Also, most Germans are nearly fluent in English as a second language... you'd have no trouble with the language barrier).

Another one for Germany...just for the cool architecture, culture, and yummy bakeries.  Ditto with Sevilla...everyone speaks English.

I vote for Germany. I have always wanted to go there. My Grandmother is from Germany, and has family that still lives there,From the way they talk about it and the pictures they bring it just looks so cool.

I voted for Germany. It sounds like you and your husband will really enjoy that trip over the other two suggestions.
Half of the fun you two will have is just the adventure!

mmm, the bakeries are definitely worthwhile in themselves!

Vote for Germany. I wouldn't say CA since you've already done that, I think you should be adventurous. And you said in another post that you and your hubby like to be on the move and not just lay around on your vacations, so I feel like a cruise might be too confining for you.

Not speaking German shouldn't be a problem. We went to some very small towns in Bavaria and most people spoke English better than some Americans! In the large cities, everyone spoke English. I also bought this phrasebook, and it was a lifesaver! It has a culinary dictionary, so if you can't get an English menu, you still can know what you're ordering. http://www.amazon.com/o/ASIN/1864501537/ref=s9_asin_title_1/002-7601505-2917657

Germany is a great idea, but my only reservation would be whether you will have enough time to do everything you want to do. Two transatlantic flights in one week will take up a lot of time and energy. If you can handle that, go for it!
