Anthro cardi review for bloomie (huge pic!)
Permalink Closed

The verdict: I am underwhelmed.  I'm 5'9" and a small C, so I got a small.  The fit is pretty good, but the fabric is... well, just not what I expected.  From the pictures online, it looks like it would be soft, but the cotton weave is actually stiff, and so is the fabric trim.

Also, if you look closely at the pic, you can see that the button holes in the fabric around the top two buttons don't really lie down flat.  A bit picky?  Maybe, but the thing was $100, which is kind of a lot for a short sleeved cotton sweater.

I'm pretty bummed, but not surprised.  I know Anthro can be kind of hit or miss when you shop online, but I really wanted this to work.  I have a million things I could have worn it with.  Plus I have to send back the other two things I ordered, too.  (The flowery vest was scratchy as hell and the green top was too thin and casual to justify the expense.  But, on the upside, my votive candle holders are beautiful.)  The belt was backordered, so I guess I'll get it when I get it.

Its too bad it doesn't feel good because it looks very nice on you and seems to be a great fit.

it's so cute on you! And OT, but I really love your curtains. I have a slight obsession with damask prints these days.

Oh, crap. I ordered that sweater the other day. It looks really cute on you, though.

I think it does look very cute on you!

I tried it on the other day, but on me, the top buttons gapped pretty badly. So I definitely didn't want to pay full price for it.

I actually think it looks really cute on you. However if you dont love it for what you paid for it, then I would def return it.

Thanks for the compliments, ladies!  You all are very sweet.  I'm hoping that, for the price I paid, I can find something similar that I like a lot more.

Halleybird: I love, love, love damask.  I have a little trouble restraining myself to only use it in small doses....

it looks greta on you, but I know what you mean about the fabric...I tired it on and it felt like when you accidently put something in the washer that's supposed to be dry cleaned - kind of stiff and unforgiving. Its a super cute sweater, but to me seemed more like a $50 sweater.

me too!!! I literally had to drag myself away from a damask-print bag the other day. Where are the curtains from, by the way? I want to re-do my guest room with either damask curtains or a damask comforter, but haven't found the right color yet. (Sorry for the hijack.)

Rats! That sucks the quality isn't there. I also wanted to order it.  Well, here's to hoping it goes on sale!

Halleybird: They are Waverly curtains.  I found them on sale late last summer at either Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens n' Things, can't remember which.  It's funny that you mentioned you want something damask for your guest room, because that's where these curtains are hanging in my house.

These ones are from Target... aren't they pretty?  I've never it in a sheer fabric before.
