I'm on seasonale - do you know how it's different than seasonique? If it's similar, I love it. I love only having a period 4 times a year. There was some break through bleeding the first 6 months but it's been smooth sailing ever since then.

Seasonique is like Seasonale (same dosing and hormones used), but it also contains a low dose of estrogen during your period, instead of the placebo pills that Seasonale uses.  I'm not sure what the benefits of that would be, though.  I guess lessening the variation of hormones around your period, if you tend to be very sensitive to them?

i was told it is a refined version of seasonale w/less side effects, in particular fixes the breakthru bleeding problems alot of people have on seasonale.

I think my doctor said that the estrogen also makes your 4x/yearly period shorter than it would be on Seasonale, in addition to helping with breakthrough bleeding.

This is a monophasic pill, right? I am not supposed to take triphasics due to my OCD.

Yup, monophasic.  From the stats on their site, exact same chemical makeup as Seasonale, just with the addition of estrogen during your period week.

I wonder why it's supposed to 'help' with breakthrough bleeding?  Like I said it doesn't appear to contain anything different than Seasonale ...?

This is what my doctor told me. I started on it in December and I've had breakthrough bleeding once, but other than that, it's been great. I did have breast tenderness when I first started it, but that went away after the first few weeks.
