So today in class I swallowed a piece of gum... No big deal, I swallow my gum sometimes. But now my throat feels a bit funny, like it's all gunky. Could it be stuck in my throat or something? I can obviously still breathe and I drank a bunch of water, but it still feels funny.

I don't know if it's still the gum, I feel like you would definitely feel it if it was there, because it would be like choking you or something. Maybe it's gum residue? There are a certain type of mints I cannot eat because I get this weird buildup in my throat.
Whenever I feel like that, I drink a Coke. I think the carbonation + acidity helps clear stuff away.

Does it feel like something is stuck in your throat or is it like a residue? Have you eaten anything (besides drinking water)? It could be hung up in your esophagus. Sensation in the esophagus is weird. My patients will complain of having something stuck in their throat, but when we do a swallow study, it is actually lower down in the esophagus. It's no big deal. I would eat something. It will help push down the gum if it is stuck. If it's not stuck, it could just be a residual sensation and eating something should get rid of it. Good luck!

Hmm, I guess it feels more like residue. My throat feels phlegmy, but it doesn't really feel like I have some gum stuck in my throat. I will try eating something. Thanks ejc!!

Hmm, I ate today and have been drinking lots of water, but my throat still feels junky. Like right in the back of my mouth, by the back of my tongue. Maybe I have a cold or something and it's exacerbating the situation? Or maybe this has nothing to do with the gum and I have some nasal dripping (not to be gross)? Egh, I don't like this feeling.
