What I have a problem with is holding her to some higher standard in her everyday life than we would hold anyone else, simply because she's a celebrity.

However, considering there are many, many people who's jobs it is to follow celebrities around without being seen specifically to capture them in their regular-person outings, I don't think it's our place to assume she's showing off for the cameras. And anyway, if any of us had had cameras in our faces as much as she, I'm sure we'd stop caring a little bit, too.

i agree. she's just a regular person. I don't think its fair to say that someone should live in a secluded place if they need time alone. its a sad world when the public thinks they own someone, at all moments, of every day. especially a celebrity- its not like she's the president or something.

the more i think about this, the more i think its kind of brave of her to expose herself to this kind of criticism and ridicule. Not many people are confident enough to shave their heads and let the whole world see them bald- verge of breakdown or not.

well, she's officially back in rehab. her publicist just released a statement confirming that she's in treatment somewhere.

The reason that I have always liked Britney in the past was because she was a regular person. We all have days when we have great makeup or a cute outfit and feel our best and then those days when our makeup is wearing off and our hair didn't do exactly what we wanted. Britney showing both sides was always real to me and I liked that about her. She wasn't afraid to eat Cheetos when all the other Hollywood girls were starving themselves.

Lately though, she has crossed the line. I understand that it would be hellacious to have papparazi following you every second of your life. There is just no other way to explain her recent actions other than she is on drugs or mentally disturbed or both. Normal people do not go around wearing a mini skirt without underwear, especially if they knew 100 cameras would be photographing them. The hair thing did shock me a little, but I think it is more everything combined that is leading to the fact that she is very troubled and needs help. I hope the reports of her going back to rehab are true. I would hate for her issues to get her children taken away from her.

She suggested that Britney may have shaved her head as a way to rid herself of all the history of drug use, especially if she & Kevin are fighting for custody, or if she's serious about trying to start over. I don't know if it's true, but it's an interesting theory.

I am not a Britney lover, but there are a lot worse things she could do than shaving her head. To me, it's the least destructive episode in her recent history.

i never thought of that, actually... then that's probably not that random/nonsensical thing to do. (somehow, though, i doubt britney had that kind of foresight. considering how her hair was up on fricking EBAY, a public shaving probably wasn't the best idea).

may her rehab stay be lengthy, healing and productive.

Halleybird-one of the radio dj's in town was saying something similar to your student. He actually speculated though that someone from one of the gossip mags may buy the hair to get it tested. That would be really bad.

Hmm, that comment reminded me of high school. :) Unfortunately for me, I used to hang out with kids who knew about such things, however, I also remember that "the word" was, even if you didn't have hair to test (like a guy in rehab with a shaved head), a spinal tap would be the ultimate proof. That of course, is probably going too far and a severe drug test may not be really happening to Britney in a voluntary rehab facility...I could be wrong, but...basically if she shaved her head for that reason, then it is still pretty dumb to think that would protect her from being exposed as a drug user. And Britney isn't known for being a big cerebral type, blah blah blah. I think she did it for more impulsive reasons.

I actually don't think she looks that bad. She looks stressed, fatigued and upset, her makeup is bad, but she is still an attractive girl if you can see past this. I like Lynnie's post, I agree with that.

It looks to me like this incident was what everyone on tv is saying, this was a cry for help. In addition, I really suspect that it was kind of an "F You" to the relentless papparazzi and their interested public of late. I do feel bad for her, but I can't help but find this story fascinating. I hope she lays low and gets better. I am tired of seeing her party pics, the papparazzi need to move on to another victim.

ha ha. In my poor student's defense, she's actually studying cosmetology (she wants to be a hairstylist), so I think that's how she knew about the hair follicle thing. LOL
