edited: to add question at the end... thanks (and sorry!)

I have astigmatism, so I have to wear toric lenses. I wear Vertex/Encore Toric lenses from CooperVision. I find them to be pretty comfortable and have generally enjoyed them.

I have just started (last month) wearing the Acuvue Oasys, and they are AMAZING. Best contacts ever, and I've been wearing contacts since I was 15. Before these, my favorites were the Acuvue 2.

i have acuvue 2.  I like them- have used them for 10 years or so.  My eyes do get dry sometimes, i switched to acuvue oasys, which was great for about a month.  Then my eyes got unexplicably INFLAMED- bright red- oozing stuff- and i am 99% sure it was the contacts because i had this happen a different time i tried to switch to a high oxygen contact.  My eye doctor said most people are successful with them, and all research points to more oxygen being better for the eye- but some people have reactions like mine.  Perhaps its a material in them that my eye rejects.

I've been wearing O2 Optix monthly disposables for about a year now and they are the most comfortable kind I've ever worn.

i have almost always worn Accuvue 2 (10 years or so) but my eye doctor said i needed more oxygen and switched me to Focus Night and Day. They seem fine too. i can't even tell they are there.

Totally agree - I used to wear Acuvue, moved onto Acuvue 2, then Oasys was recommended to me.  I really could freel the difference.  There is very little discomfort and your eyes don't get as dry as with other types of contacts (from my experience)

I have Acuvue Oasys, but my eyes still get very dry. I also have tend to have very dry eyes to begin with though. Other than that I have no problems.

I wear Focus Dailies b/c I have protein buildup problems, and I love them... but they're pricey.

Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism.  Just switched to these.  Much, much better than Acuvue Toric for me.  I recommend them.

thanks for all your replies!  this is definitely helping me out.

i have this irrational conception/fear that contacts are uncomfortable to wear, will damage your corneas and are a pain to deal with on a day to day basis.  do you have to wash them everyday?  can you occasionally go to sleep in them?  will they stick to your eyeball like gum on shoes?  and for you gals with dry eyes, what do you have to do to hydrate them?  eye drops?

thanks for humoring me :)

My eyes are super sensitive so I don't even use disinfecting solution--it burns like crazy.  So I just store mine nightly in sensitive eye saline and it works fine for me.  I don't usually have to wash them.  I wear biomed 22 or something like that.  I think it's a high oxygen type, but not sure.  I just know they work.  They are 2-week disposables and I usually get 4 or 5 weeks out of them.
I can't sleep in mine because my eyes get so dry.  It feels like saran wrap on my eyeballs.  I can wear them for probably 18 hours or so before they get awfully uncomfortable.
And seriously, you get so used to the contact routine that you hardly even notice you're doing it after a while.

I use Acuvue too.  Just make an appointment - your eye doctor will recommend or let you try on different pairs to find the ones that fit your eyes best.

I wear Frequency 55 Toric (for astigmatism) and love them. I have tried a few and these are the best for me.

I have also tried the high oxygen ones and they burned my eyes, I felt like they were so uncomfortable, I went back to my Frequency contacts immediately.

For year I slept with my contacts in until FINALLY an eye doctor showed me what would happen if I continued to do that. It scared me into taking them out every night since then.

Just be patient, don't get upset if they are hard to put in at first and make sure you are 100% happy with what you have.

The first time I wore mine, I was so excited to be able to see like this!

Good luck!

Acuvue Oasys. I replace them every 6 weeks or so, and I always sleep in them. I never take them out until I'm ready to throw them away.

I've been wearing Acuvue 2 for over five years. My eyes aren't overly sensitive, but they can only tolerate so much, you know? They're two week disposables, but I use them until they rip, tear, or get lost. I've had lenses that lasted well over four months, actually... I don't know how healthy or sanitary it is, but I go to the eye doctor regularly and he hasn't said anything is wrong with my eyes or lenses. I guess I'm in the clear in that respect. I sleep them every once in awhile, when I fall asleep watching a movie or reading, but I try to wear them 16 hours, max. When I do sleep in them, I take them out, wet them with a little no-rub solution, and pop 'em back in. I don't ever clean my lenses; I soak them in multi-purpose saline solution at night and that's it. They're not uncomfortable at all, but sometimes my eyes get irratated... I use the saline solution to moisten them and I'm back in business. They're not a pain to deal with at all, IMO... it's so much a part of my daily routine, like brushing my teeth. The only pain is learning how to put the contacts in. It takes a little practice and can be frustrating, but once you get it, you're golden.

i'm squeamish and weird about many things, especially eyeballs, but contacts have never bothered me.  I absolutely never sleep in them- i've napped by mistake in them and regretted it.  they get really stuck to your eyeballs when you sleep in them.
But i dont think its annoying to put them in/take them out every day.  Truth be told, brushing my teeth is more of a thorn in my side   Yes, i'm THAT lazy.
