Hi All,
Stylethread is looking to create city shopping guides -- similar to but better than the ones in some of our favorite magazines. What we're looking for are great shops -- both on and off the beaten path -- restaurants and places to chill out after a day of shopping. And please suggest a couple of places to stay and must-see sites.

Any volunteers? Ideally, we'd like at least two people per city. But honestly, the more the merrier. From time to time, we'd ask for updates on new shopping destinations. This shouldn't take up too much of your time; just think of it like you're giving a friend helpful shopping/travel tips.

It's not that the cities themselves are "off the beaten path" but that there are certain sections or areas of a city that only somebody who lives there would know about- that's the idea. The shopping guides that are published in most main-stream magazines don't really cover anything but the already well-known shopping areas.

For instance, if a certain well-known magazine was going to cover Philadelphia it would mention Walnut Street shopping but would totally overlook Sansom boutiques and Numbered Streets (15th, 16th, 17th, etc). Sansom is one block north of Walnut and the Numbered Streets all run parallel to Walnut and the shops on those are only one or two blocks north or south. Somebody who was going by the Shopping Guide would totally miss some of the best places for shopping if they just went up and down Walnut Street. Hence...off the beaten path.

Or certain Shopping Guides would mention places that aren't as easily accessible by a tourist- something that requires a half-hour car ride or hour train ride aren't necessarily something that I would put into a shopping guide for a city.

Does that help explain the idea a little bit? Shopgirl...I hope you don't mind me butting in here to explain!
