I got an email yesterday morning from the guy I am supposed to start working for in May, in Rome.
He said he can't pay me from May, I can start working in Oct (it's a question of having to spend funds before the end of the year). Of course, my visa for US expires in march 31st, and anyway I don't want to stay here.

Which means: unless I find something elsein between, eating meals is optional between april and october? what am I supposed to do?

I am *a bit* disappointed...

Oh no!  I'm so sorry to hear that.  I know you were really looking forward to the opportunity.  I don't really have anything constructive to add, but I hope it all works out well.

I'm not sure how the market is in Rome, but couldn't you get a job working retail or waiting tables until October?

yes, Farrah, I think that's what I am gonna do...
I called the guy I am supposed to work with, and he said he still wants me there and he can probably start paying me even in Sep
After the initial disappointment, the situation is not so bad...I have a place to leave, I can find some kind of job probably tutoring college students (looks like they need people with a degree in chemistry) or anything else I can find - or just enjoy my time off!

still, it's a bit of a disappointment!
