Who watched the Grammys?

I loved the Grammys this year!  Highlights for me:

Mary J. Blige-there were lots of MJB moments and I love her!

Corinne Bailey Rae/John Legend/John Mayer-I just discovered Corinne Bailey Rae's cd and I've been playing it a lot lately. I've always loved John Mayer and John Legend.

Christina-Let me just say Christina can sing!

Justin-He's just so cute.  Loved the duet/contest thing!

Rascall Flatts and Carrie Underwood-not a big country fan but I love both Rascal Flatts (just got their latest cd and am loving it too) and Carrie is just so likeable.

The only lowpoint for me was James Blunt (I can't stand that song he sings!)...

we've been sort of watching the highlights... #1 of which was probably fly-as-hell Lionel Richie doing "Hello." Love that man. But what was up with the weird slow-tempo rendition of "Crazy?" Bummer! Loved all the Dixie Chicks stuff. Oh, and almost fainted when they showed Adrian Pasdar sitting next to Natalie in the audience. Good LORD that man is a fox!

But I can't even begin to come up with words for for what Imogen Heap was wearing. I absolutely love her and think she is unbelievably talented, but she is clearly also fully around the bend. To wit:

I watched!  I was really disappointed that the Dixie Chicks won.  I'm not a fan, but I also just don't think they deserved to beat people like Justin, Christina, and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.  I also think they're obnoxious.  They always have to make snide remarks.

That being said, I'm glad Mary J Blige won - she's an awesome woman.  I also loved both of Justin's performances.  And I loved Christina's tribute to James Brown.  Oh, and The Chilli Peppers of course.

I thought Christina looked gorgeous on the red carpet:

The snide remarks seem to be just Natalie, as far as I can tell. The other two girls - esp. the one with her hair all pulled back in a long pony/braid - was very gracious. I'm not a Chicks fan, but I do respect them for voicing their opinion(s? never sure if that was the whole group's opinion or just Natalie's) when our idiot Prez dragged us into this inane war. And it must have been stressful to have such a backlash (no airplay, little support from the label, etc) to what she said. But they've refused to cave, and I'm glad to see them reap some good for sticking by what they believe.

I also loved that MJB won - big, big night for her and she was clearly moved. I don't listen to a whole lot of her music, but I do like her and I respect that she has changed her life's direction and is in a more positive place.

I thought it was cute that the girl who won the duet with JT was so clearly excited, though I don't know that her performance was all that. It must have been awesome to stand up on the Grammy stage and sing!

Outfits I thought were pretty bland overall...but I also thought, "WTF?" when I saw Imogen Heap. Crazy!

I've not listened to Carrie Underwood's music, but I might have to start! I love her voice and thought that she handled both of the covers she did quite well. Too bad I can't say the same for Rascal Flatts, who totally could not carry the Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane" at all.

Seriously! I love her too and am glad she's finally getting some recognition for her awesome music but that outfit! I saw it on some gossip site and was blown-away. I hadn't ever seen a picture of her before so was mightly confused. My thought train was something like "Hmm, is that really that girl who sings those cool songs? She really looks like that? Damn, now I'm gonna have to think of the wierd outfit everytime I listen to her music.".

I love the Dixie Chicks (more so after "the incident") and I was super psyched to see them win so many awards. If anyone deserves it, it's them. Their performance gave me goosebumps, it was so good.

Christina's James Brown tribute was awesome. I definitely dug it. I also liked the Rae/Legend/Meyers showcase, although I can't stand Meyers. It was very good. And Lionel Richie? Hello indeed.

I thought the Rascall Flatts and Carrie Underwood tribute blew big time. Bob Wills is not happy right now (and the Eagles should be suing). Boo to that one. I was also disappointed Carrie Underwood won best new artist. So many great candidates!

And the JustinCam? Hilarious - in a way I'm sure he didn't intend. He was not bringing the sexy back with those close up shots. Cheesy and annoying maybe but not sexy. Otherwise, he looked hot, hot, hot. That was one lucky girl.

All in all, I thought it was one of the better Grammys in the past few years. Even the Red Hot Chili Peppers impressed me and I'm not a huge fan.

I'm glad the Dixie Chicks won.  Their new song is awesome and I really like that they didn't bend to industry pressure and take back their comments even though I'm sure it cost them a TON of money.  Did anyone see after they won their first award and the camera cut to a bunch of country music people and they all looked PISSED?  It was pretty hillarious.

Justin Timberlake's first performance (didn't see his second) was awesome until he brought out the Justin Cam.  That was so awkward, I had to look away.  It was just painful.  But otherwise, his performance was great.  He's a hell of an entertainer.

Rascal Flatts made me nauseated.  I cannot stand that lead singer.  He's awful.  And did anyone catch him playing the air guitar?  Painful.  Carrie Underwood wasn't bad at all, and she did a great job covering Desperado, but her first outfit (the green one) that she wore when she sang that old-timey country song was terrible.  The dress coupled with the song was just way too hokey.

I loved Corrine Bailey Rae's performance.  I've never seen her before, but she was great!  She looks like a really neat girl.

That's all I can think of...

I though MJB was sooooo annoying!  WTF to her acceptances speeches?!

I'm glad the Chicks got some vindication, even tough I'm not totally sure they deserved to win over their fellow nominees in some categories.

I was so excited to see Gnarls perform Crazy, but heloooooo booooooring!

I the dress Christina Ricci was wearing though!

I watched the first 2/3.  I did not like how the Dixie Chicks kept winning!  What is so great about that song?  There are much better songs and singers.  And Natalie needs to learn to be a gracious winner.  Each time she went up there I could not believe what came out of her mouth!
