I have a super-important wedding in April. My BF's brother is getting married and I'll finally be meeting his WHOLE family, most of them for the first time.
The wedding will be at Disney World, but at one of the "countries" in Epcot. I tried to ask BF what time the wedding was and all he said was "it doesn't matter because you'll probably be better dressed than my parents anyways"
So I'm officially left to my own devices. I've always worn brownish/beigeish dresses to weddings in the past but I definitely want something more colorful/bold this time around.
Here's what I'd drop cash on. Is any of it April wedding in Orlando appropriate?
I think the problem is that everything cute has too much black (could that work?) or too much white (I know that won't work).
The only thing reliably colorful dress that I've liked is something like this Missoni dress. Is that too wild? (this one is $695...just too expensive for me)
Any other ideas? I'm willing to spend between $150-500 for a good dress, especially if I can wear it again (like the Missoni). I want a printed dress and I want to be able to wear it again in other situations.
Please help me...I feel like there's nothing out there!
ETA: I'm probably going to wear my Loeffler Randalls since they're formal enough and super-comfy, so the dress should match the shoes.
I think this one is great...and I don't think it has too much black or white in it. I think as long as you don't do solid black or over the top white you're fine. This DVF would be great for a Disney World wedding and any other event thereafter. The only thing I would really be concerned about is if the wedding is in some sort of Church or Chapel then it may be a tad on the short side, but IRC you said DVF's usually hit you right above the knee...so I say go for it!

As cute as a lot of these dresses are, I feel like most of them are a bit too casual. I think I'm torn on the issue of wearing a cotton dress to a wedding. I like these from Anthro:
This one from Nordies is really cute, but you'd need something to cover up on top: This one is also gorgeous in the close-up--there are little beads around each leaf. It's $620 though and you'd probably need a cover-up:
I love this one... love the print (which reminds me of your marimekko skirt), the unusual colors, and I think the cut would work really well on you. Them's my two cents!
I love this dress and think it would be perfect for a disney world wedding, except for the length. It's too short on the model for a wedding I think.
I like these for an WDW wedding. I mean, it's not going to be super fancy because it's in Walt Disney World, at least that's what I'm thinking. So cotton would be okay IMO.
I think the blue one, I'd have to see IRL. If it's so light that it could possibly turn out white in photos, that's obviously not a good idea. Too bad you can't wear white to a wedding - I love your green & white seersucker dress (I think it's yours?) and I think it's great except for the color.

Ditto on the one coach posted, it's beautiful, a little dressier, but not over the top. I think the others are too casual, and for meeting the family for the first time, it's better to look a little nicer, than under dressed.
Believe me, I still remember what my sister in law was wearing the first time my in-laws met her, and well let's just say, showing too much skin, & being underdressed, left a bad lasting impression, that too this day she still can't shake. I can't either...

I really dig this one as well. I like the color, the pattern, and the cut. I think the DVF is too short but if it hits you at the knee (or somewhere thereabouts) like you say, then I think you're safe.
I like the one sephorablue said the best. I also saw some cute dresses at bebe that you might want to check out (silky, pretty, but not tight and slutty in anyway).

I've gained a LOT of weight (at least 20 lbs) which I hope to mostly lose before the wedding (late April).
So far, I really like this dress...it reminds me of the Thai Airways logo (which is a good thing). The price is good, especially if I'm not at my goal weight by the wedding.
and, of course, loving the idea of an excuse to get another DVF...the sleeves would hide the arms nicely. The dress is 36", which on a tall model hits midthigh, but on me is maybe two inches above the knee. Must. Try. On.
I can't believe that Nanette Lepore or Rebecca Taylor can't do some pretty, girly, pastel-ish dresses like they've always done in the past. I love both labels so this would've been a great excuse to get a cute dress...
I promise to update my dress find chronicles...I'm returning to Los Angeles this week and can't wait to get back to shopping there. I'll definitely post a series of dressing room pics in the near future.
