help me rearrange

Ok, a few questions... Is the flooring the same in the LR and DR? What is in the dining room?

Here's an idea I had with the info given so far (just a warning, I suck at making straight lines in paint

) and of course I'm not sure about the scale of your furniture:

yeah, its white carpet throughtout, but I do have a big area run in the living room.

I neevr thought of angling everything like that...I'll have to see if that will actually work for us...our floorplan is slightly different, but it migth be close enough (I just have to make sure it won't block the hallway to the bedrooms)

I might try to take some IRL pics of the space tonight... its really driving me nuts. I feel liek we have too much furniture for such a small apartment (my first apartment was huge and I had to buy furniture to fill it)

Ok, what about moving the dining room to the other side of the kitchen, like right when you walk in, is that an option?

nope. I put a better picture in the original post. that one didn't really have the door in the right place.

However, I'm not opposed to moving the "dining area" to somewhere else.

Is the L shaped wall around the kitchen a full wall or a bar area?

How about moving the dining area to that nook where the shelves are? You could either leave the shelves there or you could move them to the long wall opposite the kitchen (if it's long enough). If the shelves are individual units, you could seperate them - leave a couple in the nook and move a couple to the wall in the living room.

Angle the sofas in a wide V shape either to face the new dining area in the nook or to face out the window. If your TV cabinet is small, there should be no problem putting it in front of the windows.

I tried to do a floor plan, but I don't know how to copy and paste it from Paint to here.

The L wall is a full wall. That idea might work...I worry a little about havign to carry food that far to the table, but it would open the living room up a lot! Dh worries that the TV won't work in front of the windows because of glare or something...is he full of it or will that actually bea problem?

I do like this idea though, and it's def. not something I woudl have though of! I got too "stuck" with the way it is now.
