So, I have not had hot water all day long. Try getting in touch with a Chicago landlord when the Bears are playing in the Super Bowl.

ETA: The windchill is -20. I just walked my dog and thought I was going to die.

Oh my gosh, your windchill is insane! I'm such a baby and I thought that I was cold in KY this week... I would positively die in -20 degree weather!

A few weekends a year (usually in the winter, too!) my hot water goes out. I call my landlord, but he won't send any maintanence men out until Monday morning. He lets my whole building (20+ apartments!) go without hot water the whole weekend! It just happened this past weekend. It is incredibly infuriating. So I feel your pain...although it isn't -20 here, so I'm sure you need it more than I do!

That is so awful!  I hope he calls you back soon.  You need hot water more today than ever.

That sounds awful!!! Wow, it's cold. I wore a tank top today and my kids are wearing shorts. We never really got a winter which sucks but I guess it's better than your windchill!

Yeah, he's here now and said "Look, I'm fighting mother nature here." I lived in MN for two years in an 80 year old building. One time the actual temp was like -20 and the windchill was -50 and our hot water didn't go out. I'm a little pissed and would really like to take a shower. I'm disgusting right now.

Yeah, every winter I wonder why people ever settled in these parts. It gets harder every year.

Ooh, tank tops! No winter - sounds beautiful. I guess I wore a tank top today, too. It was layer one. Over that I had a long sleeve henley and over that a thick sweater.

Hour 36 with no shower - morale is low... I would never survive in a real crisis, I know.

I feel bad for complaining. That's terrible. I've been without heat before, but never when it was this cold.

I would head off to a hotel.  Just to take a nice hot shower is totally worth it.

My friend picked me up this morning and I went to his house and took a nice hot shower. Then, I walked back to my place after my hair was dry. It was bone-chilling. I passed the El and could here announcements about delays, so I called in sick. I was in no mood to be stuck in below zero weather on an El platform. I took a long, clean nap and when I woke up, the hot water was back on. Yea! Luckily, my apt has been nice n' toasty, otherwise I would have whipped out the credit cards and headed straight for a hotel. It could have been worse. I met a woman while walking the dog today whose heat was out all weekend.
