I got Botox!
Permalink Closed

I'm so happy with it. I just had Botox and Restalyn done today and I'm so happy with the results. I had Restlyn filler in my labial folds, which are the lines around my nose. I had Botox on my forehead and around my eyes. It looks natural and really didn't hurt at all. I know a few of you girls had posted questions about it before so I figured I'd open myself up if anyone had questions!

Before I finished reading this sentence, I thought that you were talking about getting botox on your labia or something, because I just read "labial folds" and I thought... why is Collette telling us this? It sounds pretty personal!

ttatara That's so funny because I kept saying the wrong word and my DH was like "um you might want to get that right before that start numbing the wrong thing"

tell tell!!!  i asked my derm for it in december and she refused b/c she felt i was too young at 27 to get it.  however, my coworker is 24 and gets it done and loves it.

i, too, want to have it done around my forehead in a couple of spots.  can you still move your eyebrows?  squint your eyes?  thats my biggest concern...

tia!

seriously that is funny.

Thanks for posting on this, I have been thinking about it, but I have been a little worried about the procedure. How did you pick your doctor?

I would totally do it if I could afford it.

How often do you need to get it?

bex I can still move my eyebrows and I can squint, just when I do no wrinkles appear. It's really cool. I just look totally refreshed and relaxed. My friend say it looks like I had a serious facial and it made me look 25 instead of 30
Alliegurl The Dr who just did my nose did my Botox/Restalyn as well. I really like him and trust his judegement so I knew he wouldn't do anything that would make me look odd at all
Kitty I'm still not sure how often I'll need to get it. Some people it lasts 6 months, some 4. Since it was my first time I won't know until it starts fading.

All in all I love it and love how it makes me look. I just feel more confident and younger with it!

How do the areas that you had done feel?  Does it feel different when you squint?  I guess I'm wondering if your face feels any different in general.  I always thought that it would feel like novocaine and that you'd be aware of parts of your face being numb but since it's in the muscle maybe not...?

Thanks for sharing!

I wish I had taken before photos with my wrinkling my forehead. I can take after photos of me trying to wrinkle my forehead though. hmmm

My forehead doens't feel any different but it does feel a bit different when I squint. I think because it's new. Sort of like when you get a sunburn and your skin feels tight? But not numb at all or novacaine feeling!

thanks Collette.  Can I ask how you found your doctor?  i think my derm blew me off b/c i'm younger- but i'm serious about getting it.  the products she prescribed just aren't cutting it for me!!!  i want a quick fix!

I've had botox too.  I got it to get rid of a large wrinkle I have in between my eyebrow (from years of squinting I think).  Here's my take:

-It didn't hurt much at all-just like getting a shot.
-It was a very fast procedure (10 minutes tops).
-It took a full week or so to really see the results.
-It did NOT make me look like my face was frozen.
-It felt like a bandaid was on my forehead (on the spot where I got it) for a few days-that was the only sensation I had.  After a few days it felt completely normal.
-I still could make expression but you physically cannot move the muscle where you get the Botox (so for me I could not squint).
-It did not TOTALLY remove my wrinkle-but it did lessen it significantly.
-The bad news-it truly is a temporary thing-my big ole wrinkle came back 4-6 months later just as promised!

I did like it when it worked but it is an expensive habit to get into.  I will probably do it again soon.  I only paid $150 for it but I think that price is on the low end of the spectrum.

Bex I used my plastic surgeon who did my nose recently for the Botox/Restalyn.
Travelgirl! you only pair $150? Where did you get it done? The average price of this is $650 a pop and that's just for one vial.

Yes-only $150.  There was in ad in a local magazine for it and I figured I would try it.  The guy was a former emergency room doctor who had just opened this outpatient-type place where they do laser electrolysis, chemical peels, Botox, Restylane etc.  He had to go back for specialized cosmetic surgery training but he was an MD.  He said basically he just does Botox all day.  I don't think it is this cheap anymore.  I think this was just a "loss leader" kind of deal for him to start up this gig.  He said once people start Botox it can become an addiction.  For me, it won't become an addiction if the price is $650 per vial now though!

I've gotten it done too-it's just like what Travelgirl said-I'm on my 4th treatment-it will eventually require only 2 per yr.  It is expensive, but I don't spend a lot on other maintenance.  I am *so* happy with the result and no one could tell that I had it done before I told them.
