Does Craigslist work?
Permalink Closed

I wanted to post about an event my store is having on craigslist.  I have never used it before. Does it actually work? Do people actually read the post and show up for stuff it is listed ?

I am just a little leary because I know nothing about it and I am a little bit worried about weirdos.

TIA!!

I think Craiglist is great!  I'm not sure how much help it would be in terms of publicity for your event, and you might get a few weird responses, but I've had really positive experiences with everything I've advertised there.

It originated in my area and it's huge here. I use it for everything - i got my job on craigslist, my car, my apartment, etc.

Good Luck!  I've sold a lot of our furniture when we have moved.  There are a lot of people that flake though, I wouldnt delete the ad until it is paid and picked up by the buyer.  I've had so many people respond to an ad, and either never respond when we sort out the details, or not show up when they make an appt to pick up.  A lot of renters and college students also scour craigslist for deals, unless you're flexible w/the pricing of the stuff youre selling, you wont get a lot of takers, at least in my experience.

But all in all, its the only place I've ever had to list our larger pieces we cant sell on ebay.

the other thing it is good for is to find service people.  we found an amazing person to do handy work ($25 an hour vs. $80) who eventually invited us to his birthday party.  we found a great gentleman to help with wireless issues, and we found someone who specializes in our brand of car to fix things at a MUCH cheaper price.
