Men's Bag....Silly?
Permalink Closed

i want a messenger bag and for some reason i'm strongly drawn to the gucci logo messenger.
the problem (or maybe not) is that it is a Men's bag (or at least it's in the men's section).  i'm just nervous because when i worked in retail, a guy that i worked with carried a very similar bag, plus i live near an area where i might run into men carrying the same bag, or know that it's a men's bag.  am i being silly?

the only other alternative would be to get a diaper bag although i have no little ones and i think the diaper bag is a bit bigger.

here's the men's bag:

I wouldn't worry too much about it being recognized as a men's bag.  I think it's a good, all purpose, gender neutral bag.

I wear men's stuff on occasion myself - I kind of like the edge of wearing a men's item - kind of tom-boyish - hope that makes sense...

I've been eyeing that myself & have to agree with D that it's pretty neutral.  I saw some from Prada in the nylon style @ Off 5th that are just as cute too.

Good luck!

I agree that it's a great neutral bag - it doesn't look like a men's bag. I really like that kind of messenger bags.

i love wearing mens stuff too and almost always prefer things with a masculine/androgenous edge.  Don't worry about it!

So what if someone does recognize it? I was debating with buying a man's bag this weekend. I didn't get it- but not because of the fact that it was labeled and marketed as a "man bag." Who cares?

I agree with the other girls about it being neutural, and if you really love it I don't think the fact it is supposed to be for men should matter.

I saw that bag IRL the other day and I think it's gorgeous. I was eyeing it on trips in and out of the store. I wouldn't worry about it being a guy's bag. It's cool and I don't think it would matter, even if someone knew it was a man's bag.
