Curling Irons or Hot Rollers?

Does anyone even use hot rollers anymore? Which do you use and why? Is there really a difference in styling effects?

I think there's a big difference. I am horrendous at putting hot rollers in my own hair, even though I love what it does for me. So I can only do it if there's someone around who's good at it! So basically... when I go home for the holidays, my mom puts rollers in my hair on Christmas. I really need to learn to do it myself!

But I think rollers give more of a casual wave or curl, and if you use big ones you can use them just to get more body. But a curling iron will give more precise, tighter curls.

I've never liked hot rollers.

I use a curling iron and curl root to tip, and it gives my hair casual body, or really nice curls if I hold the curl a bit longer and pin it to my head to curl.

I use them occasionally -- my hair is very fine and it's really the only thing that gives me a lot of volume. I use a set similar to this one and leave them in for about 10 minutes. My hair is very resistant to curl, so I have newscaster-style hair for about 15 minutes and then it looks great. I don't use it that often because I find it more damaging than the curling iron.
