Ok, so I heard Biore strips are bad for you but is there anything else that gets rid of/ prevents blackheads?

I think beta hydroxy acid is supposed to be the best solution. Have you tried any BHA products?

I had microderm abrasion done and it got rid of them.  However, they came back and I can't afford to get this done every two weeks.

Why are they bad for you? I use the and love them but if I'm damaging my skin I want to know! They're addicting seriously.

HB, I don't think I've ever tried BHA products but I can't be sure.  What are some products that have BHA in them?

Collette, I heard the strips are too harsh and should be used very sparingly, if at all, something about damaging your pores resulting in redness/visibly enlarged pores over time.

I'm so confused, and meanwhile, I've got a bunch of blackheads!

I've been using Proactiv for 4 weeks and that has seriously helped my blackheads.  So maybe a scrub and lotion with Benzoyl Peroxide in it will help you out in the long run.

Regularly using a gentle exfoliator and then occasionally using a deep pore cleansing mask should help keep them at bay.

I just ordered Paula's Choice BHA samples (www.cosmeticscop.com) b/c they got the best reviews on MUA. Supposedly Neutrogena Rapid Clear Defense Lotion is also comparable. I also think an aspirin mask may have similar effects. Good luck!

The only thing that works for me is to take 5 % salylic acid (clean and clear makes a cheap one) and spread a thin layer on my face every morning. Let it dry for a few minutes. Then rinse. It takes a few days to see results. But it makes a huge difference over time.

I use Bior strips too.  I did use them every week but I use them about once 1 1/2 to 2 weeks.  I don't rip them off, I gently pull.  Maybe I should use something else just in case?
