Returning painful shoes?
Permalink Closed

I have never, ever returned something that I've worn.  That said, I bought a pair of platforms a couple of weeks ago at bloomies.  I tried them on, but didn't have time to put them both on and walk around (stupid me!).
Well I wore them this weekend, and I could not walk at all!  I literally walked less than a block in them, and every step was a struggle.  Despite their beauty, I know I won't be able to wear them again.  I wore them for about two hours, and I walked about half a block from car to restaurant and then back.  They look almost new, but I think it's obvious I wore them outside.
Have any of you returned shoes for this reason?  I know if it were Nordie's, they'd take them back.  But I feel weird returning shoes I've worn.
Yet I'd rather return them than go through the trouble of photographing them, writing a description, etc. to sell them on eBay.
Any thoughts, or experience with returns at bloomies?  TIA!

Since Bloomies is an upscale department store, I'm sure they would take them back.  Especially if you are just honset and say I thought I could wear them, but they are incredibly painful can you take them back?  They won't be able to resale them, but they will be able to return them to the manufacturer for a credit so they won't be out the money.

You lose nothing by trying!

I agree w/ Heather.  I don't like returning things I've worn either, but if you know you are never going to be able to wear them again, take them back.

Thanks gals. I'll probably try to return them this weekend, but I still feel bad about it...

Just go and be honest about it.  I hate when people take something back they wore but kept the tags on and act like they never did but I see nothing wrong with going and explaining what happend.  The worst they can do is say no.

Thanks for the advice ladies....
If I do go, there is absolutely no question I would be honest. I'm a female Honest Abe!
I also did a short stint in retail, and it's unbelievable what some customers try to pass as new merchandise.

ITA agree with you and I am also a female Honest Abe--ha!  I guess it comes from working in retail.  I think they will be much more likely to take them back if you tell them the truth than if you try to say you've never worn them and it's obvious you did--that would be embarrassing IMO, b/c you know they would talk about you the minute you left the store!

Let us know what they say!

I bought a pair of shoes about three years ago at Payless.  I had some kind of reaction to something in the material and spent most of the night trying not to scratch my itching feet.  I have never in my life had something itch so badly as my feet did that night.  I took them back the next day and they refunded a portion of my money after they did a damage assessment on them.  I probably shouldn't have done that since they were so cheap.  In your case, though, I imagine your shoes were alot more expensive so I would take them back and just be honest with them.  All they can do is say no.
