Futon Cover ?
Permalink Closed

Currently our couch is my old futon and it drives me up the wall. It's actually quite a nice couch since I went with the fancy-mancy wooden style so that's not so much the issue. The issue however, is the cover. It's this horrid tan/beige mess that the BF's mom got for us about two Christmas's ago. It's done the job since then but we are moving soon and I want to take this opportunity to update some of our things. The futon cover must go! I want to go with a plain red/dark burgundy cover but can't quite figure out what size. All of the futon covers I see are one size fit all- is that true? My futon is actually quite thick, it has an 8-inch mattress which is larger than most, right?

My second dilema is this...what in the name of all that is holy is the difference between a slip cover and a cover? And why does one cost more than the other? I just want a basic normal red, why is that so hard? Here is what is driving me insane:
From Target
Twill Futon Slipcover in red for $23
Twill Futon Slipcover - Red

Twill Futon Cover in Ming Red for $39
Twill Futon Cover - Ming Red (Full)

What the heck???

Anyway..any  help would be greatly appreciated either in sizing or an explanation! Also...I'm not greatly opposed to prints, just haven't found any that really stir my heart. If anybody knows of any really cool funky modern prints...let me know. Thanks!

I have always used futons and from my experience the covers are organized twin, full/queen, and king, but the cover will fit any thickness. I also have an 8" and I just got a standard full size cover. So as far as thickness is concerned, they are one size fits all.

As far as slip cover vs. cover, I am completely guessing here: I'm thinking that a slip cover might be like a fitted sheet or gigantic pilllow case or something that pulls off easier than a "cover."
