This sort of makes me mad. I mean it's great that she loves and wants the best for the children that she adopted, but Shiloh almost sounds unwanted. It makes me sad, and as a mother, I really don't get it. Someday Shiloh is going to be able to read and I can't even imagine how I'd feel if my mom said something like this about me. I don't think she means it quite like it sounds, but still....

Angelina Jolie tells ElleUK that she never planned on getting pregnant and starting a family with Brad Pitt. Basically, it was an accident. Hello Magazine says:

"I wasn't planning on getting pregnant. I'm the one that got knocked up. Some men have kids when they're not ready and some men know they want to take it seriously and wait until they're absolutely ready. You could say Brad changed me."

And there's more good news for Shiloh. Not only was she an accident, but her mom loves her less than her two adopted siblings:

"I think I feel so much more for Madd and Zee because they're survivors, they came through so much. Shiloh seemed so privileged from the moment she was born. I'm conscious that I have to make sure I don't ignore her needs, just because I think the others are more vulnerable."

I've read this before I just have to imagine it's not what she meant. Because even if she did mean it that way, Angelina seems savvy enough to know you shouldn't say stuff like that in the press. Also, I read the first one somewhere else in a different context and she wasn't saying that Shiloh was an accident, but that she wasn't planning on having her own kids and then Brad changed her as opposed to everyone saying she changed him.

ditto that. i doubt she'd knowingly jump off that PR cliff. i think the same thing applies to what she said about madonna and her adopted son.

I agree. It came from a blog and I know it's not the whole quote. But still, I would never refer to being pregnant as being "knocked up," regardless of the circumstances. Traditionally that term has sort of an unfavorable connotation.

I know she probably didn't mean it how it sounded, but...damn. That's harsh. To say that you are afraid you might actually ignore your own child's needs just because she was born more privileged than the ones you adopted? It's not like the baby had a say in it, and Angelina herself is very prvileged. She can't discriminate against other people who are... especially her own child!!!

That'll be horrible for Shiloh to read once she can. I'd be crushed if I heard my mom thought that way about me!

That is so sad.  It must be out of context.  Granted, I don't particularly like her, but I still can't believe she meant it to sound like that.

I hope that's out of context.  But then again, I'm not really sure in what context it would be okay to say that you feel more for one kid than the other.

Angelina generally seems to be an intelligent person who chooses her words carefully, so I'm hoping that these quotes weren't meant the way they came across.

Exactly... even if she hated her kid's guts, I'm surprised she'd say that because she seems so aware of PR-ish things. That's why it's especially disturbing.

Yeah, I'm sure it was taken out of context.  Who would say that about their child?

That said, maybe it is over exposure, but Angelina and Brad are starting to seem pretty self-important to me.  I'm getting tired of hearing what do gooders they are, how much they love each other and their children, blah, blah, blah.  Their are plenty of celebrities who manage to keep their lives somewhat private.  Julie Roberts, for example, I don't read about it every time one of her kids takes a shit.  I guess Brangelina has a little extra pressure since they are both high profile, but I keep getting the sense that they are absolutely loving all the attention.

I agree. I read it elsewhere and didn't take it negatively at all. And let's face it, Shiloh was privileged from the second she was born, more so than AJ's other kids, for obvious reasons. I think she's being real in that interview and not at all saying she doesn't love Shiloh as much as the other kids.
