New York Magazine review on wide-leg jeans

One of the jeans that the reviewer really seemed to like were the Lux ones from Urban Outfitters. They are actually $68, though.

"The selection at Urban Outfitters was predictably sparse—there was only one style in stock. But it was a good one!

The jeans came in two colors, dark blue and very, very pale blue, with a sailor-style button front. The legs were on the short side, making them great for flats or sneakers and the sizes ran a little bit big, which is always a quick way to boost shopping morale.

And the extra room in the waist and the leg paired perfectly with a tighter shirt, a fun alternative to the billowing top, tapered leg look I've been attached to recently. I even waited on the endless checkout line because at such a low price ($58, Lux) this pair was a great way to give the trend a test drive."

I am so happy about this... I randomly bought a pair of really wide-legged nanette lepore jeans this fall, that are sort of a dark purplish black. I love them and have been rocking them in spite of the skinny trend, and now lo and behold, it turns out that the style is going to be a trend for the next season... what a nice coincidence! The only bummer is that they are insanely long, so I have no choice but to wear them with tall heels. They have detailing that I don't think would survive if I got them hemmed.

Also have a pair of high-waisted, wide-legged brown linen pants that I've had for several years... must find ways to wear them with other things besides a tucked-in button-down.

I'm really glad about wide-leg jeans and pants being around, too. I just love that silhouette, and I'm definitely going to try on the Lux ones.

Most of the other brands in the review - Level 99 at Anthro, Paige, Hudson, Gold Sign, Seven, Grey Ant, Diesel - are really pricey, though.

Ooh those Lux wide legs are quite pretty. =) I've been so confused about the spring pant trend though...I've read in various places that the straight leg would still be around, that the "boyfriend" sillhouette would be coming in, and now we'll be seeing wide legs around....?? I'm not a must-follow-every-trend type of gal, but I'm just wondering what the main pant style is going to be for spring...I have always liked the look of wide legs + a stacked heel though, so I'll prob put this pair on my wish list anyway...

any thoughts??

I kind of think it will be a grab bag. I'll never get rid of my bootcuts, but I don't think I'll be ready to part with my straight leg jeans by spring, though. They're too hot! And I really like wide-legged jeans, I just have to find some that don't look baggy on me

I say wear whatever you want. The only thing I could see being gone so soon is skinny pants, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're still around, too.

Thanks for posting the link.  That article had so many great options.  This is a cool trend...now I just need to try on the jeans!
