Banana or Jcrew?
Permalink Closed

Who has better casual work basics?  I have been shopping at Jcrew but Banana looks like they might have more variety.  Opinions? thanks!

I like both, really.  Why confine yourself to one?

I have more summer stuff from J. Crew - really liked their skirts this summer, and more winter stuff from Banana - I liked their full herringbone skirt and got some of their wool dresses on sale this season.

I like J Crew better these days....Banana has been boring me lately - the colors and patterns have been too neutral and I am maxed out on brown and black basics

I enjoy shopping at J Crew much more than BR.  I only go to BR if I need something black, white, or gray because that's about all they got.

Oh anyways, for casual work basics, I still would prefer J Crew.  They always have button up shirts, cute sweaters, and work appropriate pants.

j.crew for reasons like my new purchase...

i can't wait to get it (in navy).

i just think that j.crew colors are beautiful and that they have a bit more special detailing, and don't fit into the gap/old navy/limited, etc... mold as much as banana.

JCrew, because BR stuff fits me like crap. And I don't think the quality is as consistently good as JCrew. We can usually find stuff DH likes at BR, but I can't remember the last time I bought a piece of clothing there. I buy belts and shoes, but no clothes.

I like that JCrew does basics with a twist. I like things with unusual details, and I think they do a good job of this with their basics.

I really like Banana sweaters and cardis, although I haven't bought anything there in a couple of months. I agree that their stuff is really basic and a bit boring.

I like J.Crew but not their prices. And the selection is pretty limited.

I like J.Crew more because their colors, designs, and detailing are imo more interesting.  BR is more for neutrals and basics for me.

I buy all my basics at J. Crew. If I had a smaller chest I'd buy all their button downs and if I worked in a less creative industry I would own all their suits. The fit is great and the garmets themselves are well-constructed.

Also I feel like J. Crew has had a more defined aesthetic over the years and consistently churns out classic items that aren't boring.

shopgirl82: that sweater coat is ADORABLE!!!! can you please review when you get it?

j crew... mostly because of their (admittedly paltry) customer loyalty program... $25 gift card for every $500 spent on a jcrew card.
