Darn Books!

I just want to complain! Text books cost so much freakin' money. Today I had to shell out so much cash for my school books. Unfortunately for me there was no more used books to buy. It just bugs me to think of all the stuff I could have bought instead. But then again, I need to think of all the more stuff I can get once I get a great job from my education. You'd think though that since schools buy books in bulk that they could sell them to students for a really low price. Afterall, it is just printed paper!

Babe - Don't ever buy books from the bookstore.  Just go there, get your book list with ISBN numbers and buy them from half.com.  I have 2 books to buy for this semester and I got them both for less then one of my books cost used.

yep. I can't tell you HOW much I saved buy buying from Amazon or half.com, or even Barnes and Noble. I'd take yours back ASAP if you can and order them online.

Also, at the end of the semester if you sell them back don't sell them back to the bookstore, list them on half.com or Amazon...you'll get so much more back..

Overpriced books are the worst!  Hopefully you can still get some good deals on whatever books you have left to buy.

oh my god I know! I have a little money saved up so I went to the mall yesterday to buy a few things because I haven't been out shopping in a long time. I didn't find anything I really liked, and turns out that was a good thing because I completely forgot about the hundreds of dollars I'll have to fork over for books next week. Ugh.

buying and listing online is more economical, but its a lot of work. Plus, I've started not even buying the textbooks until I know I need them, because I've spent a lot of money in the past on textbooks the professor said we'd need, but that I didn't crack even once. So by the time I figure out what I need...its too late to wait for media mail shipping!

Yikes - I totally remember.  When I was in law school, it was always a few hundred dollars each semester.  I threw out most of those books the last time I moved.  I literally never opened them after I passed the bar.

No kidding! My school normally buys books back for half the new price. I don't know if that is a good deal or not, but last time I let them buy a book back that originally cost $100+ I realized that they only gave me $5 for it! I was so pissed. By the time I realized this it was too late.

Thankyou all on the heads up where to buy my books and where to sell them next time!

My mom used to work for a book company that also made some college texts. When my husband saw that one of his books was listed at over $150 new and that my mom worked for the publisher, her gave her a call. She got the book for him for under $.50 That's right, under fifty cents.

I can not believe the mark up. My dad was seriously pissed when he found out what the mark up was.

I agree about the half.com and whatnot. I'm waiting for my textbook from them now.

I've bought most of my books from half and have still spent over $200.

But I agree - go with half.com!!

I also agree buy your books on Ebay, Half.com, Amazon, there are students who are willing to sell it cheap online since they won't get anything back if they take it back to the bookstore for buyback. Like Farrah said just write down the ISBN from your books and type it in the search bar on the website.
