Ebay Dilemma - help *update*

Ok, so I bid on a purse on eBay under the assumption it was leather. In the "materials" field the seller listed it as "Leather." I had also done a search by material for "leather" so I assumed it was leather. When I read the fine print I realized it wasn't leather and it was "leather like" - I wrote the seller and asked them to cancel my bid because their listing was misleading..they haven't responded and it now looks like I'm going to win the auction.

Should I refuse to pay?

UPDATE:

THIS IS SO HELLISH. The seller FINALLY got back to me (over a week and a half after the listing ended) and now has opened a dispute saying I have not paid.

I don't know what to do. What happens with these resolution threads? Does someone eventually step in and resolve it? WE just keep posting back and forth. I refuse to pay, even if I get some sort of negative mark on my account.

Has this happened to anyone?

does ebay still have bid retractions? i thought as long as there was a certain amount of time left, they will let you retract your bid...

You can only retract if you bid the wrong amount (and you have to enter the right amount during the retraction) or the seller revised their listing dramatically after you bid.

Ugh, this sucks!!

if your seller is in a good mood, he/she might be willing to agree to an "unpaid item mutual agreement," which basically lets you off the hook, and the payer gets credit for their ebay fees.

Erin,  late last night my H was looking at XBox 360 systems and ran across a guy selling the cardboard box ONLY. The listing included the specs on the system so no wonder the thing was bid up to 200 plus with 2 hours to go. He reported it, I'm not sure if you can report after the auction is closed. You do have options though....start a thread on the Ebay Buyers board to get specifics on your particular sitch. Hope it all works out for you!!!


Ebay policy states that "Items must be listed in the appropriate category. Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:


Listing cancellation


Limits on account privileges


Account suspension


Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings


Loss of PowerSeller status"
