Problem with this sweater from the gap....

 I have this sweater in brown and navy and I absolutely love it!  Can't say enough good things about it...until this evening when I got my brown one out of the dryer and there was a huge hole in the chest!  It wasn't there when I washed it, and I followed the instructions on the tag (wash in cold on the delicate cycle and then dry on low) so what can I do about it?  It's only the 3rd time it's been washed. I ordered it online and don't have the receipt but surely they have a record that I ordered it.  Can I be reimbursed?  They don't have the brown color online anymore :(

I would suggest you call customer service and ask them about it, it is a GAP product and if you ordered online they should have a customer record for you. Best of luck, it is a cute sweater.

I've noticed the last few things I bought from the Gap didn't hold up well at all. Totally ticks me off, because all their crap is over priced. I also follow the directions on the tags, and yet everything shrinks or suddenly developes holes. I shouldn't have to handwash anything from that store.

You know what? I have noticed the same thing. My things from the GAP used to last forever and I too have had sweaters with holes. And indeed for the quality I think they are overpriced. I'd rather shop the Banana clearance rack.

I used to have great luck with their customer service as far as returns.  Now its sort of hit or miss.  If there is a store near you, I'd bring it in and explain what happened and that you just want to exchange it.  If they don't have the sweater, they may just give you store credit.

They recently issued this new return policy where you can't return anything that's been washed or worn. They sent out a bunch of postcards about it and were stapling it to receipts. It sucks, because they used to have an awesome return policy.

ON has the same return policy, but we still allow them to exchange the item if it has a hole, shrunk, or something like that.

I called the customer service line and they told me to speak with a manager in a store because only the manager can declare the item defective.  I'm gonna take it after work and hopefully they'll at least give me store credit for the full price of the sweater.  I bought it for $44 online and now it's selling for $15 in the store so I better not get the $15 credit!
