Crush from high school...
Permalink Closed

In high school there was this amazing guy we shall call M.  Incredibly amazingly gorgeous (blue eyes, dark brown hair, chiseled jaw, athletic) that I always assumed was dumb and a jerk because of the people he hung around with.  Well, senior year I had two classes with him and actually ended up talking to him all the time - he's super nice and very intelligent.  Of course, I ended up having a crush on him, but he dated someone else, and frankly I never thought I'd ever have a chance.  Fast forward 5 years, he came to my friend's New Year's party, and I was reminded all over again how beautiful and wonderful he is.  I ended up talking to him for quite a while that night, but I was way tipsy by that time, and was embarrassed because he no longer drinks (he's a pro cyclist).  Anyway, since then, he has moved to Luxembourg to be a pro cyclist, but he keeps popping up in my dreams.

My question:  If this were you, would you try to track down his e-mail address?  I've tried looking for him on Myspace, but he's not on there.  I still think there's a chance in a million he'd ever go for me, but I feel like I have to get him out of my head.  I also think he's probably become a bit idealized in my head over the years, and talking to him would make me realize he's not as great as I think.  Do any of you have a crush from way back in the day who's always in the back of your mind?

I would totally try to track him down.  If nothing else to get him out of your head.  He is far away so its not like you have to worry about feeling embarrassed if you run into him.

I had a total crush on a guy in high school that I'm back in touch with now.  He was a senior when I was a freshman and I thought he was so *dreamy*.  He is good friends with a friend of mine and lives near me.  He looks really different from the way he did before and the feelings just aren't there for me.  I didn't think I had a chance with him in HS but we joke about it now and he said I should have asked him out.  Its an ego boost to hear that, and it makes me feel even better that now I wouldn't want to go out with him.

Go for it!!!

I think you totally should.  This is a great time of year to do it too--you can make it all under the guise of wanting to wish him a happy holiday.  You could say something along the line that you were talking to a friend from high school and got to thinking about all the people you've lost touch with and you thought about him and wanted to wish him a merry Christmas.  Something kind of along those lines, but maybe not as contrived.

Good luck!  Does your school have an alumni contact list?  Or could you track it down from the college he went to?

Haha, I'm glad to hear you all don't think I'm totally psycho.  I have tracked down the pro cycling team he's on in Luxembourg, and hopefully I can get his e-mail address from them.  I've tried looking it up through his university, and through mutual friends, but haven't gotten anywhere with that.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed...No fun in being a stalker if I can't get a hold of the stalkee!

Aw Squishy, I'm sorry to hear that!  As far as I know M. is still a nice guy...but it always surprises me how much and how quickly people can change sometimes!
