i already own this fabu sweater jacket by nicholas k. i've had it for over a month, and have worn it a buncho times.
so now i also want this sucker.
the only PITA is that it needs to be dry cleaned (or could it be hand washed? i dunno if the leather knotted buttons can handle it). and the wool is heavy, so i'm worried it's going to stretch out over time i live in southern california, so this will suffice for a 'winter' coat.
opinions? yes? no? too similar? am i being a fool? *goes bonkers*

i can't really see the details on the second sweater though. (love the one you have!)
they had a similar sweater last fall (hence the name, ashton II :), and i've been looking for a similar one, but the only success i had was with an acrylic one. eek. it's ~$250 with a code, but *sigh*
they're two different colors. we must have variety in our wardrobe to avoid boredom.
if you hand wash, and don't leave it soaking, the buttons should be fine. roll it in a towel to remove excess water as well as retain its shape vs. wringing after you wash it.
if you love the first one, the fit and feel is probably similar to the first one, so I bet you'll love the second one just as much as the first one.
I'm not really following the heavy wool = stretch out logic. if you wear it enough to stretch out the wool, you certainly got your money's worth of wear out of it.
is that enough enabling for you?

dude, you're pushing me thisclose. if the sweater were an inch longer, it would be mine already.
I think that it is cute, but it might be a smidge short on you though. I agree with D about variety, it would be warm enough for SoCal, especially with layers, and since you love the first, it is only logical that you would love this one as well. However, if you can't justify the price, don't get it.

ITA with D. And even though I also like the 1st one better, I love the 2nd one, especially the buttons, and I think you would probably be able to see the detail better in person.
I also agree that if you find something you love, get it in other colors! And you've been looking for it, well you found it! The alternative would be trying to find another black sweater, driving yourself crazy, and would end up with an icky acrylic one.

i've decided that i'm going to try it out. there's free shipping (and return shipping), so all i have to lose is some time. if i love it, i'll keep it (i'll probably have another poll at that point). if not, it'll remove any doubt and what-ifs i'll have for this jacket :)
