tipping doormen in an apartment building?

So, this is the first time I've lived in a building with doormen, and with the holidays approaching it's the time of year to tip them. Anyone have suggestions on how much to give? And how to hand the tips out -- do I put them in individual cards and try to find everyone in person, or give a lump sum to one person to distribute? The people who work in my building are so nice and I want to be sure to do the right thing. Thanks in advance!

i'd tip in cash, in a pretty envelope, in person (if possible) with a "i wish it could be more."  or if that's not possible, you could bake some cookies for them.
