Is anyone here have an acct w/one?  What is so great about them?  DH is planning to upgrade his truck soon and someone told me we should go thru a CU instead of the the dealer's lender for better rates.  Is this true?  We also want to refi my car loan.

I do.  It is generally, but not always, true that you can get better rates (on savings, money market, or loans).  I was going to explain how they work and why they have better rates, but instead just click this link and it will explain.  You can also navigate to other things on the left.

they do generally have batter intrest rates than dealerships, unless the dealership is offering a promotional rate.

As far as services they generally have less fees for things like atm fees etc. If you do all of you banking in one place then they are great, but if you travel or move around alot I would not recommend them for your main bank account. Just get the basic account to get the loan through them.
