I decided to go to my colorist -- she worked me in this afternoon.  She went through the top of my hair with foils.  She said she was not going to put color on my hair but the product she was using was very gentle (have no idea what that was).  It turned out beautifully.  Whatever she did added dimension to my hair.  I love my hair now.  It is not blonde, but it has about two or three colors of highlights through it that gives it a multi-dimensional look--however, it looks natural.  Thanks everyone for listening to me complain about my haircolor dilemma.
