I'm newly registered but have been reading the forum for a while. I have a fairly basic style - lots of black and gray, clean-cut - so I really appreciate seeing your ideas for more creative ensembles!
I went to my local Anthropologie today for the sale, and ended up with a few printed skirts (which I'm really happy with) and the dress below, which fits well, but perplexes me.
First, is this cute enough to keep? If so, any suggestions on what color and style of shoes/accessories would work with it? Finally, where would you wear this dress? (It's a heavy cotton material, btw).
Thank you - those are great ideas for both seasons!
Years of wearing only solid colors have warped my perception of prints, so it's good to get that reassurance that I'm not going to look like a circus clown!
I'd probably wear a white button-up shirt under it and a funky belt over it (maybe turquise or burnt orange). For shoes I'd do knee high boots or mary janes.
In the most recent edition of Lucky magazine, they showcase a look with a brightly patterned dress with a loosely belted wrap dress in a neutral solid over top. It gives the look of a very long cardigan over the print. If you have a chance, check it out as I think it would work with your dress.
