Rugs on top of carpet?

I have a small room that is carpeted and all the rooms around it are wood floors. I totally regret putting carpet in that room . So I was thinking , what if I got a rug as big as the room (like sisal) and put it over the entire floor so it would look like it was an area rug over wood floor --

Until I can afford to do wood floor in the room this is my only solution that I think works. Any thoughts? Or other suggestions?

While I don't mind runs on top of carpet, I am not crazy about a rug COMPLETELY covering the carpet. I trust their are not hardwoods beneith the carpet?


Personally, I think I'd wait and save for the hardwoods/

To put a rug over an entire room would be expensive.  I'd just save that money for all the sooner to put in hardwood.

Yup, I agree, large rugs are pretty expensive -- I'd rather save that cash towards the wood floors.
