well it is becoming that time of year in chicago and we aren't quite used to the cold. We thought we would try an electric blanket this year. Dual control so we can each have the temp we want. A softer blanket would be nice. I don't know much about electric blankets but they seem scratchy.

I bought a dual control mattress pad cover last winter and I love it. I got one from LNT and another from BBB and I think we kept the LNT one, but I would suggest a mattress pad cover instead. That way you can put your fitted sheet over and not worry about a scratchy blanket, plus I prefer to have the heat below me, and then use my nice blankets (which can be kicked off, if need be). I preheat the pad before bed, then turn it down before hopping in. It automatically turns off after 10 hours. Also, it concentrates more heat at your feet, and less as you get closer to your face.

We now keep the house cooler at night to save on the heating bill, and use the pad during Michigan winter nights.

I second this rec.  We love ours!
