Blackheads?

Can someone recommend a product that works well at getting rid of blackheads? I tried some cleansing pads by Clean and Clear, and they did nothing. Please recommend something!

I had great success with Dermalogica's pre-clense, but it got some mixed reviews on the board. If you did a search you could see the previous discussion on it. I do, however, love it.

The biore strips are good, but I have to use them regularly to see results. It isn't instant. I also use a toner (I think by biore as well) that promises to get rid of blackheads. I use it every morning and every night after washing my face and before moisturizing. I think it has really helped.

Yep. A friend and I went through a serious "remove any and all blackheads" phase a couple of years ago and we tried everything. I learned I don't really have blackheads but staring for many minutes at a time in the mirror at the pores on your nose can convince me I do.

My friend used baby oil on her blackheads and it really helped her. She would put the baby oil on a cotton pad and swab it over her trouble areas. All this black/gray stuff would come off, which is totally gross but helpful if it works, right? I did the same thing and nothing happened to me. It's worth a shot since it's so cheap.

As for the extractor, it did nothing for me. I tried it out on zits, too and really wasn't impressed at all. I get how it's supposed to work but it really just doesn't. At least not in my experience.

Good luck!

I've used it and I totally love it.  It is worth the $7 or $8.  HTH!

ew. but awesome.  i'm simultaneously disgusted and fascinated by my blackheads.  i want to try this  dental-scaler-ish thing (at the risk of wasting $10), just because if it works, it'll be so ridiculously gratifying.  i'm sick, i know :)

How exactly do you use one of those extractors? They look scary to me!!

Hmm, I'll have to try the baby oil. It's cheap.

I suffer from blackheads and I just made an appointment to go get microderm abrasion and extraction of blackheads done.  I will let you know how it goes.  I know biore strips have worked for alot of people, but they haven't worked for me.

I use one of those extractors too and it's really satisfying to see your blackheads popping out.  (I know this puts me in the "weirdo" category.  )

Anyway, you push it down around the blackhead and it distributes the pressure evenly and the blackhead will come out.  It works really well on my nose and when I get a stray blackhead on my chin or forehead.  I've never found it to irritate my skin, although it will leave little marks in the shape of the tool on your forehead for a few minutes after you use it.

Not at all.  It leaves a mark for a little bit so I don't suggest using it before a hot date, but it is fine overall.  I actually get compliments on how nice my skin looks.

See, I tried this too and nothing ever came out. It just hurt a bit and left a stupid looking mark on my face. But there are two for and one against so maybe it was user error - completely possible.

or maybe you have great, blackhead-free skin :)

the only good thing about blackheads is the gratification from removing them.
