I am looking at getting an 03 or and 04 Audi A4 with All-Wheel Drive. Does anyone own one? If so, do you like it? I just moved to Madison, WI from Atlanta and I am looking for something that will hold up in the winter driving (with 4WD or All Wheel Drive). I commute an hour each way to work, so I need something comfy to drive long distances. I'm open to other suggestions as well. Thanks!
We have a Subaru w/ AWD and love it. It's never let us down in bad weather, and we've been through some pretty serious snowy/icy spells.
The one we have right now is a smaller sport model and therefore not very comfy for long drives, but the outback wagons are really nice inside and would be perfect for commuting - adjustable lumbar support, heated seats, etc, etc. It's what I want next !

i had an audi A4 with quattro (that's what audi calls AWD) in the past (loved it!) i'm a pretty loyal audi girl (had an A4 for 3 years, then i had an Allroad quattro for 4 years, now i just bought an A3) they are fantastic cars. feel free to PM me if you want more info.
My Bro had the Audi TT Quattro and it was great. I drove it half of the time because he needed my truck for work. It was super fun and hugged the road amazingly well. We live in CA so no snow or ice but it was great in the rain. I really like the A4 too
I had an Audi A4 with all wheel drive and *loved* it. Handled like a dream in cold Maine winters, rain, sleet, anything, and it was fun to drive too. I sold it when I moved to NYC 6 years ago and still miss that car. ;) Whenever I own a car again I hope to get another Audi.
eta: my only complaint about my old car was the backseat was kind of cramped. i'm average height but have a friend who's 6 foot 5 and he felt like he was inside a sardine can whenever he sat in the backseat.
I just saw this, sorry! I have a 2005.5 A4 Quattro and I can not say enough good things about it. I love my baby!
The four-wheel drive made a noticeable difference this past winter (I live in the crappy Midwest too). The first time it was icy and snowy, I decided to make a quick trip to blockbuster late at night, and I was seriously TRYING to slide and couldn't! Not to mention the top-notch safety features that have won this car (and some VWs as well) numerous safety awards and high ratings.
As far as comfort, you can't go wrong. I just took a 7 hr. road trip to Minnesota this past weekend, and I had no trouble. There are so many features, they thought of mostly everything. If you decide to go with it, I highly recommend getting the 10 speaker Bose system. It has made a significant difference to my listening habits. I can't stop playing cds, they sound so good even in noisy highway conditions!
The only thing that bothers me is not enough center console space, but even that's turned into a blessing in disguise because it helps me avoid clutter. There are drawers under both front seats so you can stash things there if you need.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to answer them!
