bootcut -- classic or out?
Permalink Closed

are bootcut jeans a classic or are they out and replaced by skinny jeans?

i got pair of true religion johnnys which i love and am finding myself drawn to over and over and i'm not really feeling my bootcut jeans.  BUT, i have a pair of TR bobbys that i ordered from revolve to replacd my favorite jeans that were lost in my missing luggage.  i have to decide soon whether or not to keep them, and i'm stuck.  i can really only afford one new pair of jeans right now -- should i keep the bobbys (they fit great) or return them and get another pair of johnnys (which fit equally great)?  $200 jeans are an investment for me, and i just want to make the right choice ...

I feel like at the current moment bootcuts are both... I think they are likely to be back "in" soon just because they are more flattering. I would vote to keep one of each just because I love to have diversity of denim options...however I would vote for you to purchase whatever pair you think you'd get more wear out of, would some more casual shirts go unused because they had no bootcuts to go with them? do you want a more casual pair of jeans because I feel bootcuts are more casual....not sure where I was going with that...

Classic!

The next jean trend is going to the "boyfriend" jean so if you're on the outs with skinny jeans...

I think they're classic.  Since skinnies are what is everywhere,  I think we have just adjusted to that silouette (sp?).  I don't think of bootcuts as out though, simply because they are flattering on everyone.

It is my firm and unbiased belief that bootcut jeans are classic and skinnies will inevitably be out in a couple of months. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway!

I think bootcut, wide leg and straight leg are always classic.  I have been switching to straighter cuts lately, but I just love my basic bootcuts and straight legs.  The seven boycut jean is a good compromise, it's a straight cut, but I've had them for over two years, and I still think they look great!

Bootcuts will always be a classic simply because it is a style that is so flattering to so many different bodytypes, and when thats the case- people will continue to wear them. You know, I will be interested to see as the weather cools down, and more people start to wear jeans here in California- how many women will actually be wearing a "skinny leg" jean , or pant. So far, the only women I have seen wearing them are teenagers, but I am not in a very fashion forward town. Although, I have seen many more straight-leg styles, the majority are still wearing a bootcut. I did purchase one pair of skinny jeans, but bought them at Gap- so didnt invest in a pair, because I really dont see this trend extending much past the season. How many women have you seen wearing them where you live?

bootcut is classic.
I think skinny and flare will come and go. In a few years we will all ask ourselves why did we ever wear skinnies.

I also agree that straight leg jeans are classic, I'm buying them up so when they aren't so popular I'll still have some to wear

i have seen a lot of people wearing skinny/straight leg jeans.  less of the super tight, legging- like skinny -- mostly slim, straight leg jeans.

I haven't seen too many people wear them. I notice every time someone does, which makes me realize that they people who do are an anomaly. I think bootcuts are definitely classic, although I think the slimmer ones will be more "now", I think most people I see wear bootcuts. Those who don't are wearing straight leg, or not jeans at all.

Bootcuts are classic.  And this year along with buying a pair of skinnies, I also bought a pair of Seven flares.  I think that a lot of cuts of denim are classic and then every year there's one that's hotter than others.

ITA!  It is like the pointed toe/round toe discussion.  One is usually hotter than the other, but you can really wear whatever works for you.
