wedding weekend outfit ideas

I'm in a good friend's wedding in a few weeks, and I'm not sure what to wear to a couple of events.

The day before the wedding, we're going to a very casual bridal luncheon with the bridesmaids at the bride's house.  I was thinking about wearing a shirtdress, but is that too office-y?


Then, that evening, we're going to the rehearsal dinner, which she also told me is on the casual side (she said she'd probably wear a skirt outfit).  I have a deep red jersey wrap dress that I like to wear with gold jewelry... is that too over-the-top? 

We'll be in Seattle, so I think the weather will be cool, but not cold.

Fortunately, the wedding outfit is covered (we bridesmaids are all wearing the J.Crew Emma dress in navy)! 

Thanks in advance for any ideas/opinions!  I'm open to buying something new, too, but I'd prefer to rethink what I already have.

i don't think a shirtdress is too office-y for a low-key luncheon at the bride's home, especially if it's a lighter color (i.e. not navy or black or some other business-like color).  just wear it with some decidely un-office-y shoes and/or accessories.


i'm not sure about the wrap dress for the rehearsal dinner...i guess i would probably try to match the bride in formality/tone of dress.  i just wouldn't want to make her feel bad, like she's not dressed up enough...but of course, i don't know your friend and this is just based on a couple "casual" rehearsal dinners i've been to.  regardless of all that though, i think a red jersey wrap dress and gold jewelry sounds totally fabulous.  so now i've probably just confused matters even more.   just go with your gut...if you're really feeling like it's too over the top, then you might not be comfortable in it...

Thank you, valenciana!  I think I will go with the wrap dress, since it can be dressed up or down.
